Just sent Jim a extremely long email! 5 days at the dealer on a rack now. They never even turned a bolt on it yet. The dealership said they are waiting on a part release!!!
    My calls , 3 a day , to the Toyota 800# weren't enough?
My weekly visits to different dealers showing them the issue and they sent me on my way.
    Hope this goes some where!

Good luck. My advice, get your case number(s) and keep notes. They will pretty much close your case after each interaction but they aren't dead, can always be reopened. Then call the regional office for your area. Give them your case number and demand to speak with a Customer First Administrator. I didn't get too far until I talked to these folks. Be mindful they are legal-minded and work on lemon and buyback scenarios, too, so they're a little guarded.

    TOYOTA REGIONAL OFFICE PHONE NUMBERS:
    • Boston Office (ME, NH, VT, MA, RI) 508-339-5701
    • New York (NY, NJ, CT) 973-575-7600

rear ends arent exploding because a leaky gasket..

poor design and shoddy workmanship. the rear ends have something to do with the trans or torque converter

    Nope !! One dealer
    Don Jacobs Toyota
    5727 South 27th Street
Milwaukee, WI 53221 with the guy from Toyota 800# trying to set up a service for the warranty work and the service advisors said they don't give loaners. The guy from 800# sounded shocked. He repeated and said it's for warranty . She said ...we don't give out cars ,we rent them! I then blew up on the phone and said I believe you are required to do so. She said .... lol... have a nice day and hung up!

Not a way to treat a repeat owner. I guess loyalty perks begins at the Lexus tier, because those people are wonderfully helpful.

a few drips from a bad gasket isnt going to cause the rear end to explode like they were doing. (maybe if you were running the rear end bone dry) but they are looking for a solution and dont have one... which is why they held everyones trucks for months... Better to buy a few back under a lemon law then have to replace all of the bad trans/converter combos across the whole line up.

if you have seen some of the pics, the rear diff is blowing up and chewing like 5 or more teeth off the ring and pinion, a massive failure.

I suspect they didnt get the power to torque math down with this new engine/trans combo and a lot of guys are having it slam into gear so that puts a lot of stress down the driveshaft. Im no expert but common sense says that its more than a gasket.. or they would have had those fixed right away

Only a week to fix it? Sounds like everyone would be better off with a blown up diff than some minor weeping.

Early 2016 here. Getting the diff rebuilt today due to the recall. I had very minor stains around the seal but they let me take it hope last week after the initial inspection (they did not have the parts to fix it then). I was told it would take most of the day but I will get it back before they close tonight.

Correction..day 5 and my truck is outside on the lot.
The service manager told me they are waiting for the PDC (parts distribution center) to release it. I said who's the field representative working my case ,his name and #? He can't give me his name.I said well I'll call the Chicago regional office 1-639-907-0150. I just want his name so I can ask for him. Can't release that info. Ok fine . So then I said 5 days not a bolt turned when do you expect it done. No idea , it's on back order. 4 days ago they had the part in Chicago waiting on release. Now it's not available?Like everyone else I said backorder?...or are they sending the parts to toyotas plant to finish new truck orders. We both laughed and he said I'm sure that's a possibility. Also it's out of his hands. I've heard 2-3 months waiting on parts for warranty.. my god. Toyota has my money. I owe the bank not Toyota. Toyota is gonna just pump em out as long as possibly and let the replacements trickle in. Toyota care my ass!

Lol you’re pissed after 5 days? Hate to break it to you but it’s going to be a lot longer. Looking like it’s going to be 7 weeks plus for me.

Ha.. 5 days.. this has been 6 months of daily calls, daily emails, and every week of 2 pulling into service and telling them again of the noise. If I was retired I'd need to fill out a 1099 for taxes as much as I have been there or manning the phone! The good is the 700 miles per week I'll be putting on the loaner. The bad is coming up with enough money to put a different rear end in on a new ride I owe a note on. No matter if they swap the differential it's still going to have the noise unless you get a differential assembled on a Wednesday ! Aka the unicorn differential....

I was without my truck for 81 days. Hope that's not the case for you, but be prepared otherwise.
