Hopefully, that door lasts forever and no maintenance is needed!

You are correct. I have a Jackshaft openener accessible on the left side but man, if the spring takes a crap I'll be cutting drywall.

Got mine back after 60 days but I was kinda sad. I was driving around a 2017 4x4 TRD OFF-ROAD and found a few trails I was hitting on my days off. Well.....back to reality.

After 4 months looks like my truck will be ready tomorrow. Does anyone know the difference between the gasket part numbers? 421810K030 vs 42181KK010. Dealer used 42181KK010. Thanks

Just got mine back today...18 days later. Only had the leaking at the Carrier gasket. They replaced the nuts, pumpkin gasket, some o-rings both axle seals. I had the "minor" leak. I'm stoked to have my baby back. The 2017 SR5 AC 4x4 I was in was interesting but suspension was stiff as hell even with 150lbs of sand in the bed. The doors latched really roughly so had to slam them. Not as refined as my DCLB.

Whew...this shit is finally over. Now I can take my dogs to the beach!

Just dropped mine off at the dealer today for this same recall. They said that they needed to keep my truck for at least two weeks and gave me a loaner car. I wonder why it takes so long to do the repair work. Our family has been driving Toyota's (Corolla, Celica, Supra, Camry, Avalon, 4Runner, Land Cruiser, Tundra) for nearly 40 years, but this truck seems to have more issues than the other ones did. My wife told me that I should trade it in as soon as this recall work is done.

Your wife is smart. No telling how long these 3rd gen's will last. A few people have reported 100k already. Very small amount like <1% of owners. Supposedly no issues.

The issue stems from quality control and finally assembly check at the factory and where the parts are produced. I've had TWO trucks with faulty differentials and whine/howl at 50-54 MPH. Had a independent shop confirm its bad... It's the gearset, they're installed improperly from the factory. The case manager from corporate you get assigned from Toyota is generally worthless and does little to NOTHING to get the ball rolling. It was only till I contacted the CEO's office or the executive branch did that get my local service dealership to kiss my ass after telling me " its a normal characteristic of the vehicle" BS!!!

Toyota is not the same company about quality and customer support. They are about profiting on the past legacy by providing sub-par customer support and quality, just like everyone else.

Sent an email to Jim Lentz the CEO (Jim_Lentz@toyota.com) this morning asking for his help to expedite the repair work.

Also opened a case with Toyota Customer Experience 888-270-9371 this afternoon. The lady whom I talked to was extremely helpful. She contacted my local dealer to find out why it would take days to perform the repair work. She mentioned that the repair work should not take longer than 8 hours to complete and that the replacement parts outlined in the recall repair procedure should be available to order these days. She left a voice message for the Customer Relations Manager at my local dealer, but she wanted me to call her back if I don't hear from the Customer Relation Manager by Friday of this week.

So an ad for the "Tough Tacoma" popped up on Facebook and I commented with my case and frustration. Someone from Toyota responded and two days later the dealership called saying my truck was done after only 20 days. Being without my truck was a pain in the ass but after surviving Vegas last week, I no longer allow small problems bother me.

Brought my 16 SR5 4x2 in for 5K service and recall. VIN was on list. After the service was completed, I asked the technician what specifically was done regarding the recall. He stated that: "a visual inspection was performed to look for any leaks, none were found". I asked: "Is that it", he said: "yes, took 3 minutes". When I got home I re-read the recall procedure from Toyota. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if no signs of leaking our present aren't all the fasteners suppose to be re-torqued as well? My paperwork states that the Recall was performed. My view is the recall was not performed. Do you think the tech that worked on my truck went with the: "If it ain't leaking don't putz with it procedure"?

Not sure if I should be concerned.......

You should have had a Re-torque. Mine was clean too, and they did the Re-torque as part of the proceduer.

Looked under my truck today since I have a scheduled maintenance coming up.
I should not have done that...

I'm fearful they will say its just wet from rain since we have had rain, but why is the rest of the rear and undercarriage dry? Can only be one thing.
    2017 OR btw.
