Correct, I was referring to the resale on the Yukon.

In reality you are paying a premium for the "Resale Value" up front when you make the purchase. Tacoma's are ridiculously overpriced for the build quality ,materials ,fit and finish you get nowadays.

Nissan Pro- 4X is a better value even when considering resale value.

At least the Xterra and Frontier use a Dana 44 hybrid known as the m226 on the rear axle. I but agree with the above.

I think that pretty much sums it up. My wife and I have owned nine Toyotas since 1980 (a Corona)--it is sad to see them become just another automaker...

Went in for a free oil change and to have them check the rear diff.

    18,000 miles.

Rear is leaking. They gave me a loaner and said it shouldn’t be more than 4-7 days.

So far, painless service experience at Koons Tyson’s Toyota, Northern Virginia.

Saves me from having to change the rear diff fluid I guess.

Marketing brochures for the 2018's don't mention anything about a permanent fix for leaking differentials . Now considered normal ?

I've never read any brochure about a vehicle mentioning previous issues... Oh that's right, your trolling still. Carry on.

My buddy went in for a state inspection and they found his weeping. Wanted to take his truck. He said no, order the parts and call him when they come in. They went away for a few minutes, came back, and said ok. He didn't have to sign anything other than the normal service paperwork. I really don't understand this confiscating a truck for a weeping condition. Full on leak, maybe. It's kinda like a vehicle comes in with oil leaks all over it (hazardous fire condition) and they have to order gaskets. Do they take the vehicle, I think not. All this is made up from Toyota. You have your rights to keep your vehicle under just about any condition other than maybe...Hey you only have three wheels and the fourth is riding on the rotor.....we don't think you should be driving it. And it's still up to the owner to make that decision regardless of what a dealer says.

I brought my Tacoma in for the 18 month service with 21,000 kms (13,000 miles) and when i went to pick it up i was told that my truck has been "grounded" due to a problem with the differential. When i spoke with the mechanic he said that what he found was so minor it couldn't even be called weeping ... just a staining but that the Toyota recall memo was very specific that any sign at all of any kind of oil escaping the housing requires immediate parking of the vehicle until the differential is replaced.
They set me up with a 2003 Toyota Solara for the first day and then a Hyundai Sante Fe which i am pretty sure would kick a Tacoma's ass in a 0 - 60 race not to mention it having superior seats.
No word how long i will be Tacoma-less.

My truck is not part of the recall and I had my rear diff fluid changed at 30k miles. I now have 55k miles on my truck and I noticed this. It’s dry to the touch and I’ve never had anything drip, plus they were in there 25k miles ago to change the fluid. Does it look like a leak or just grime? Keep in mind the flash makes it look worse than it is too.

You absolutely do not have to got to the dealer you bought the truck from, in fact many got better service at dealers they didn't buy the truck from.

Took my 2016 TRD Sport in for its 20,000 mile service on Monday. It was confirmed to have leaks present. The fluid volume was above 2.0 liters. The dealer (AutoNation Tempe, AZ) had the parts on hand and was able to do the work that day.

I had been following this issue on TW since the recall was announced. I knew it had weeping present and I was prepared for the worst. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised.

What about a screamer? Mine is not weeping but it's singing to me, even over my radio.
