I bought my Tacoma in Nov. 2016 ('17 model). The VIN wasn't included in the the recall, but it was weeping. The dealer replaced the gasket in October 2017. I crawled under today to check it and noticed it is weeping again and quite a bit worse than the first time I saw it before it was repaired. Calling the dealer tomorrow. I am at 33k, so still within the warranty period and hope they will repair. Although, I am beginning to be concerned about this being an ongoing issue that isn't actually being repaired for good.

Forgot to update: This time around, dealer said that Toyota wouldn't consider mine a leak. They said it would be covered under the powertrain warranty so don't worry. They just cleaned it up and inspect it at the next service. If the marks show back up they'll replace the gasket and add some sealant to the paper gasket.

They should just forget the paper gasket and use some Permatex High-Temp Red RTV Silicone Gasket Maker. That will definitely fix it.

Reply: No problems OP...you will find there are a lot of great members on Tacoma World who have a wealth of information and can be very helpful. But, you have that select few of d***heads who will get pleasure in "trying" to make you look stupid like post #5.

    Well that explains the leaking.

Been bouncing all over the forum looking for patters and most of the fixes involve re-tightening the bolts > new seal with some speculating as to the breather being apart of the issue.
Some say 18ft lbs and others say 28ft lbs for the bolts.
Everyone trouble-shooting the issue should of course clean the area well so if the leak persists you can track it.

But yeah...paper gasket...I just dont see that working well based on comments I've heard from Toyota Master Diag techs.
