I said this some time ago in this thread, but if you are on the list and the rear end shows signs of leaks, check the rear differential fluid level, if it is good, then wait for the letters, because they will just take your truck until June or July. Now if it is leaking bad enough, and you are low on fluid and or see it on the ground, then you most likely have to take it in.

Mine shoes signs of leaks (weep/seep) in 5 places all around the gasket seal. I have never seen any drip on the ground, and none made it to the bottom of the diff. The rear fluid is good, so I am waiting to take it in.

Went to dealer today they owed me an air filter, while there they checked my differential no leaks - so they tightened the bolts to specified torq. Thankfully that's the end of my recall.

Dealer said they should start receiving the parts for recall repair next week for the leaky differentials

I have the rav4 as well while my truck stays with the dealer. Get used to that crappy adaptive cruise control.

I am on the recall list... I have a 2017 Tacoma.. I went today to the dealer for the recall, they inspect my Tacoma and they told me that I have no leak yet, that if anything I am under warranty... What they did is tight all nuts.

Same story here. 6k miles on my 17, I checked the rear before going in and saw a couple little spots that were dry, nothing like I've seen on here. They checked it while doing my 5k service and said it was good.

hold the button for a bit longer and you get standard cruise control instead of adaptive.

I had some seapage with my 8.75" non locking diff. Noticed three of the nuts were hand tight, and the rest were barely snug down. I'm not sure if I'm on the list, but I just had it in for service, and it looks like they didn't even check it.

I was so mad at it, I just removed it all together and am now driving around in front wheel drive.

This is not true. I'm taking mine in tomorrow to get the bolts torqued. Service advisor sent me the below email when I asked if they were going to keep my truck like guys on TW are posting.

    *^$@#*,
I plan on having it back to you the same day, not sure why other dealers are holding trucks, will inspect it and go from there.
    ^*%#@!*

Maybe he or she hasn't checked with Toyota yet. I brought mine in for the recall inspection. I only had two small seeps, as per my own inspection the day before. The SA tells me a half hour later they just checked with Toyota and they are instructed to hold the truck and give me a loaner.

Hope they just give you your truck back tomorrow.

This has not been a good experience.

Really don't matter to me if they do decide to keep it just as long as they give me something to drive so I don't have to ride the Mass Transit bus around town.

Thinking about trading for a new RAV4 so hoping to get one of those if they keep my truck. (Which I don't expect them to)

all you peeps who see those little spots you say are dry. well, something made it leak

driving the vehicle isn't gonna heal them up....it will get worse over time as the pumpkin eats the stress and flexing of driving

all these weeps and stains are 100% not normal. should never, ever weep

There has been some debate as to whether or not Lemon Law would apply to a recall. I suppose you could interpret the law different ways. I didn't see anything in the body of the article in your link that addressed specifics or exceptions regarding Recalls.

If you're interested in dumping your turd gen, I'd contact a lemon law attorney and see what they give you as far as advice on your case. They'll usually be able to tell you up front whether or not you have a valid argument.
