Does this just pertain to the rear? I have a 17 ORDC with 7k miles and I put some RCI IFS/Trans skids on this morning. When I pulled off the factory tin sheets I noticed my front Diff (I think :fingerscrossed:) was leaking out of the drain plug. It's the only picture I took. Were just the rear diffs affected by the recall or are there problems with the front as well. Sorry for the shitty pic. Was a tight fit, only parked driver side front tire up on the curb. The left is the front and the right is the rear. IMG_6864.jpg

You must of purchased the very basic S model. If you purchased a SV value package or higher models you would have gotten all that you are complaining about. Frontier start at $18390, Tacoma at $24,320. So if you would have purchased an SV it would be comparable to the base Tacoma.

I understood when I purchased the 16Pro4x it was based on older design and not as up to date on all the tech stuff. I didn't need all of the tech stuff. Just could not bring myself to pay what Toyota was wanting for the Tacoma.

He didn't purchase it, it's his loaner. I got a base Tacoma SR for my loaner.

Hearing weeks to months before Toyota knows what to do with the recall does not make me happy. They'd better be compensating us big time, like with 3 more years' warranty or something.

Yes, hearing that it could possibly take months has me very concerned.

My mistake. Sorry to hear that some of you are having the oil leak issue. As far as compensation I agree. Something tells me it won't happen.

It's hard to imagine this fix will take months. According to the recall notice if you have a leak the fix is to replace the gasket and install new bolts. Can't they use the same gasket and bolts used on the non-recalled Tacoma's?

Don't know if that's a viable solution, as lots of OR's that are not on the recall list (mine included) are weeping as well.

I really hope not. But if they do they should give me a vehicle right?

Absolutely, yes. Ask for a Tacoma or whatever else you want. If they don't have it, ask them to call you when they do.

Pella, you's is the front diff. If anything they'll probably throw a new drain plug gasket in there and clean it up. Shouldn't be an issue.

    :)

Just dropped mine off for multiple services this morning. I have a Off-Road, and took these pictures in the service lane.

    Driver Side:

    Passenger Side:

Told the service rep, who I deal with often, that since mine isn't under recall, I'll need it fixed via warranty, said no problem. Also, since I'm paying to get the front and rear end serviced today (changing the fluids over to Amsoil), I would really like a new gasket put in, especially considering the amount of weeping I have, and I brought my own fluids to fill anyway, so it's just a little bit more labor costs they'll have to warranty. Put it on the sheet for the tech... hopefully it'll happen. Told him I just don't want a re-torque of the bolts, I want a new gasket also, especially since I'm paying $60 for a rear end service anyway.

Interesting for those not on the recall list with the same weeping, they can fix it same day no problem, but if on the recall list, they don't know what to do.
