This is only the beginning, and not only for hail it's all in the fine print, any damage to those crappy rentals is on the renter.
I'm expecting a flood of similar cases here on TW and it ought to be a sequel to this thread.

And I can't wait to see who will be first, and what the most appropriate thread title ought to be??

When I first heard about this I checked the website and my 2017 SR5 was indeed on the list. Since then I've been keeping an eye on it while waiting for the recall letter, but saw no leaking. About a week ago they called me to arrange the 6 month service and I asked them if they could do the recall work at the same time. They checked my truck against the list and said they could do it. Just had the work done, they also saw no leakage, so all they did was retorque the bolts. They told me they had not seen one yet that was actually leaking, so I guess it's a small percentage that actually have a problem.

I'll chime in with what I've been told: 2017 DCLB Sport, on the recall list, no weep.

So I had noticed weep on the diff a while back, but chalked it up to my Krown rust proof oil spray because everything underneath my truck was pretty wet for a while after that.

Recall was announced and I looked under, seems to be one dry now. So I called up Toyota to see if they're servicing the recall as soon as news broke here, she said no instructions yet just hold off till you get a mail notice.

Called today to book an appt to check out my squeaky leafs (Jesus they are irritating sound like shit), and asked if they now had any solutions. She said they do, and booked me in for service.

Main reason I'm posting here is because she ALSO said the Tundra is about to be announced for the same recall, so for all the 3rd gen haters/Tundra lovers.....well....there you go?

I guess when we see guys getting their trucks back we will know there is actually a green light to perform the already known "remedy" that has existed since day one.

    A good sign.

Although there was a post a few weeks ago about some dealer getting the parts in for a fix for the next week and didn't hear anything after that

damaged to their truck - the dealer had it in the lot where it sat waiting on parts and repair. The loaner was back at their residence in the garage out of the hail. Total bummer.

Yours may be one of the biggest weeping ones I've seen.

Edit. Just seen you have a OR. It's not part of the recall. They will fix yours right away

It's really not a big deal, and unlike the others you won't be without your truck for long

I posted mine previously and it was seeping very little....
    IMG_6629.jpg IMG_6632.jpg

So I decided to torque down all bolts and each was about 1/2 turn to 3/4 turn for each bolt before it was to 18lbs. Then topped off the diff with more fluid and here's how much was missing. Again mine didn't look too bad but literally half a liter was missing. I would recommend everyone to check and fill you're diff if you're going to sit on it.

Not from what ive seen at the dealer my truck sits at. There is, 3 OffRoad's 4by4 and 3 4by4 limited sitting right next to my Sport. And they were there before mine when I left it off May 9th...

Not sure why hey are sitting there then. Toyota has stated anything not on the recall list is to be serviced as normal. Perhaps the recall is being extended

Just took my truck in, for other work, and was told that since my VIN isn't on the recall list they can't officially repair it. They took a video and sent it off to corporate for approval? They did top off the fluid and tighten the bolts though.

Sounds like you have a pretty respectable dealership.

And that's the pisser. I asked my dealer if they've quit making them? Answer: Nope..... Can I buy a new one off your lot?.... Yep... Turned mine over voluntarily on 5/1 to be # 2 vs. # 12 or #22 not knowing. So much for giving Toyota the benefit if the doubt. It won't happen again. In a word......ridiculous.
