    best wheel bearings around! www.marionbumper2bumper.com
The 4 runner still have crappy bearings, they still have driveline vibrations... It doesn't matter really where the trucks are ASSEMBLED, it matters where the parts are SOURCED. That is what Toyota should work on.

I'm not really a fan of the body wrap they used....looks like duck tape almost. Pretty cheap if you ask me. :D

That yellow bra on the front has to go also!!

Looks like the cab hasn't changed at all. Just new fenders, and front end, something about a new powertrain, yay. Sounds like more issues someone else can find out about and bitch on here.

If this is what a 3rd gen looks like they should start a 4th gen. But some will love the looks personally I think it looks like shit with the "big truck" looking front, almost looks like a Dodge...

I can see the Tundra influence, I definitely will be getting a 2017.

Exactly the reason why it doesn't make any sense to replace an '05 with anything newer until a replacement truck with some meaningful changes actually hits the stores.

I have had my tacoma for almost 6 years, did a bit of wheeling when I first got it. It has 135,000k on it and I have never had an issue with the wheel bearings, and thats even with being in a front end collision, and driving through manitoba winters.

I'm referring to all the TSB's/recalls and common problems with the tacoma.

If anyone is upgrading their truck to be a mainly off road rig I can see them needing to buy new wheel bearings, but for every day use there is nothing wrong with the wheel bearings they use.

I also have my truck for about 6 years now, had to replace both front wheel bearings at 130k km. Truck was never offroad except for some gravel roads to trailheads. Seems like a pretty common issue...

If those pics are what it'll look like I'll buy a tundra. Thats freaking hideous. It looks like a Colorado. No way I'd spend money on that.

Agreed, but the problem there for the bean counters is what can we advertise or hype up on the next years Tacoma to keep sales up ? Marketing ploy for sure...

Lousy wheel bearings/weak ass springs (which doesn't bother me) fender flairs that jump off the truck when wheeling/ heater fan issues what other anomalies jump out at you ??

OH not to stir a shit storm but how about those manual trans/soft clutches, but they did away with the manual trans IIRC

Well my truck has suffered from:

    - crank seal leaking (common)
    - weak rear leafs (common rememdied with a custom fabbed aal and re-arch)
    - frame rusted through (common - new frame)
    - weak tail gate bent in half (common, bought used tail gate)
    - throw out bearing squeak (common, urd kit and new exedy clutch waiting to be installed after xmas)
    - ticking engine (common, all they had to do was insulate the valve better)
    - front cats went bad (common, not cheap to replace)
    - drive shaft broke in half (not sure if common)

but never had any issues with wheel bearings or blower motor (mind you in the summer it was starting to make a slight little tick noise). Only once has my truck let me down, and that was when the drive shaft broke in half while driving down the highway. That wasn't something I want to experience again. Lucky I didn't flip the f'n thing.

I had lot of the common issues with mine:

    • @ 47k - Front diff issue (fixed under warranty)
    • @ 80k - Temp console resistor failed (re-soldered myself)
    • @ 130k - Two front wheel bearings
    • @ 140k - Water pump
    • @ 140k - Rear axle seals leaking
    • @ 150k - Some rusting of frame - wire wheeled and repainted myself as much and as best as I could (6 months before Toyota campaign )
    • @ 155k - Blower motor stuck on High only - fixed with TSB parts
    • @ 155k - Throw out bearing issue - replaced with URD kit and new Exedy clutch
    • Weak and squeaky leafs (still same condition)
    • Chirping blower motor fan (still same condition)

Oh ya when I bought my truck the temp guage didnt work, I soldered that myself as well. and after my last accident they replaced my rear axle seals, they thought it was from the accident but it most likely wasnt.

How do you like the exedy clutch compared to stock?
