Sadly I've been in 15 thousand dollar Hyundai rental cars with better infotainment than my Taco. CarPlay and Android Auto are all you need.

Agreed. I do like that weather app. Use it daily to decide if I should roll up my windows or not when I get to work.

I have an Android phone and have never had any issues playing well with the Taco (or doing anything else for that matter). They work together seamlessly. But all Android phones are not alike due to the many manufacturers. I'm rolling Samsung with no issues.

I use Google play music premium. Costs 16 bucks a month but I can share it with 5 other people and it gives me and those 5 people access to premium content on YouTube Red too. The new Karate Kid show is brilliant.

I couldn't live without Google music. From what I understand seems to work more or less just like spotify's premium service.

Ha. Only when the app says 0% chance of rain. That's the only time I leave em down. So not much faith really.

Same here on Google Music, the only streaming music service I use. Works fine through bluetooth, but not as well as through Android Auto. Entune nav/maps are also pretty worthless compared with Google Maps. I'm also annoyed about the lack of Android Auto in my 2017 Tacoma. If Toyota chooses to go with Apple Carplay but not Android Auto then when I'm looking for a new truck in the future I'll at least be considering other trucks that have it.

Chevy and Ford both support android auto&&apple car play. I think this is a pride thing with Toyota.

I worked for Hyundai for 7 years, and they have had both since the 2016s came out. I'm bummed it's not in my 18 Taco, but with the Google Assistant and bluetooth functionality, I'm just gonna have to get over it.

I received an updated letter from Toyota saying that they were adding several new APPS as well as removing those mentioned. The new APPS will be the Tacoma Forum, PornHub, and LongHorn Steak House

Possible. Rooting has had little progress so far. Piggyback with RPi does work but has lots of lag and multiple crashes. Have split the group between rooting and RPi to make it more of a game for them. First one to get a stable platform wins an old G4 Cube.

I added the headunit to the list. Center display is getting first priority as I am tired of the startup screen and background.

If you could get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay installed as an App on the ENTUNE, people would pay you money. I know I would, as you would save me from buying a new head unit.

Oh hell yeah! Not so much the start screen, but that background would be great in a dark, solid color. Also if you can find the pitch and roll display for the non-OR / non-Pro folks, that'd be great.

As far as HU desires, just being able to get apps out of the choices would be great. For example, I only use BT and A/V (front camera). Toggling with the Mode button on the wheel means that it is one press to get from BT to A/V but eight? to get back to BT. If it could just have BT, A/V, and navi, I'd be one happy camper.

At 100 bucks I'd pay for sure. At 200, I'd be on the fence but would still seriously consider it.
