Get a second opinion. I hate to say 'There's nothing wrong' because I can't cover everything eyes on can but if it's not pulling bad......just get a second opinion.

And another vote for giving the girl a break on the hard riding. Keep it up you will break something, most people who wheel do.

Oh and......yea, not a skid plate. Not completely worthless but as you can see it's not going to save big damage from happening.

Don’t let the dealership play you like that. I’ve taken mine in with worse trail damage and told them exactly what I did and they still fixed as much as they could within the 2 hours that they had it. Ultimately I paid around $100 for them to diagnose for any potential issues and bend my skids back to normal. Take it to a better dealership.

Yeah. I’m also thinking for how much decent skids and bumpers are, I can drop 3k on a Jeep junker to bounce off trees and not really worry about it at the end of the day.

roger that. Thanks. Yeah the dealership has good reviews as a dealer, I actually bought it there and they were great. But the service has mixed reviews at best. I won’t name them don’t worry.

Skid plates definitely save big damage. Speaking from experience and seeing many others do the same thing. There’s always possibility for more damage, but a good skid can save you in those oops moments.

$4500 in repairs is way too much. They must be including the "covid - business is slow surcharge". Can't say for sure with just the pics but the LCA's look okay. Damage to the cross member and "skid plate" are strictly cosmetic. Take it to a local mechanic for a second opinion, although replacing with aftermarket LCA's and new skid plate is not difficult DYI. Inspecting the brake calipers will take less than an hour and investing in an alignment is probably a good idea.

Spend some $ on some aftermarket armor to protect the truck if you want to thrash off road. Well worth the investment.

Definitely get a second opinion from a different shop. Preferably a non-dealership shop. I would never trust a dealership's word... and my fiance works for an AutoGroup that owns multiple dealerships.

Just this Tuesday, I had them (a dealership) do a state inspection (we get discounts for small stuff like that + oil changes). I literally bought the vehicle a year ago and had it inspected by my mechanic and practically took it apart (2012 Acura). It only has 75k since it was driven by an elder and has a history of taking it to in for service literally 5-10 miles before it was due or a couple of days before the timeframe.
Guess what they told my fiance? she need to get rid of it in one year or it'll cost more to maintain than have a new one... It was one of the Technicians that said that and the only ones that know I own multiple vehicles ranging from different generations are the managers so the technician wouldn't have known I know about vehicles.
The technician said that when my fiance said she doesn't know what has been done to the vehicle. For Pete sake, I even replace the diff fluid on that thing and sent off the oil samples to the lab to see if there are any contamination the first week I got it. But the technician said the oil and fluids are looking bad...
About 30-40% of dealerships income are from their service department. If they can't churn out service from you, they will try to get you to buy a new vehicle from them. Best targets are insurance claims cause they know the insurance will pay for it and most will think it's a deal only having to cover the deductible.

Just because it's a legal "road" doesn't really mean squat. The Rubicon is a County road. Even if you were on a urban road, and you bent your shit running curbs and whatnot, that's not something that insurance should pay for (IMO). If I get hit by another car on the street and they dent my fender, insurance all the way, but if I'm wheelin and I dent my own fender, that's coming out of my pocket. Actually, I'd probably just leave it, lol

    That's pretty obvious, lol

That said, I think you need a 2nd opinion on all that catastrophic damage that makes it undrivable.

I drove it home on the highway for an hour and to and from work a few times with no issues.

Probably the brake dust shield got tweaked causing the noise.

I am missing something here. Tough to say from a photo unless something looks totally wonky but I don't see anything "bent". Yeah you have damage but is really just superficial cosmetic stuff. Yeah, a metal lip is bent over. So what? Unless mounting points are off like dimensionally it doesn't matter.

Your truck looks like it is actually used. I owned mine for like three weeks which was just long enough to get a lift, sliders, and a winch bumper before it looked like that.

Tell your dealer to put it on a rack and see what the numbers look like. I guarantee you they are in the green. You would have something like Included Angle or Steering Axis Inclination off telling you something specifically like an A arm or Knuckle is bent.

Just saying stuff is scuffed and there is $4500 is pretty funny. I'd tell them that TRD means you should actually take it offroad and not just drive around with that stupid factory periscope that they sell for $45k.

I commend you for beating a new truck!

Going back here...was anything besides scrapes on the suspension and crossmember found? Like brake rotors with scrapes or loose suspension bushings? You commented that the lower A arm was bent and rubbing the wheel. One, that would be nearly impossible but did they find anything scuffing the inside of the rim? I would be holding a candle to everything they say.

I worked in dealerships for years. Some guys just get it and know how to actually work on stuff. Others cringe when they see anything aftermarket and just buckle because it isn't listed in a repair manual. Like dude, the entire truck isn't going to be voided from warranty because the owner beats it offroad. It isn't like you bought a Raptor then proceeded to jump it...like why is my frame bent? You jumped it remember...

Glad to see someone actually using their truck :headbang: “a legal dirt road” lmao I don’t doubt you for a second that it’s actually a legal dirt road, just not sure about the quality of said road...

My vote is it doesn’t look too bad, they’re trying to string you out for $4500. Definitely get a second opinion from a mechanic shop, not a dealership. If you drove it home and work with no issues, there probably isn’t any issues

Sounds like you need better insurance. I flopped my truck at a private off-road park and I was covered.
