Hey guys, I have a 2016 4Runner and it uses the Entune app that you download to access Pandora / weather / etc...

I bought my 2017 Tacoma a few days ago and when I go to download the Entune app, I get to the "setup" screen and it wants me to scan the VIN, (which I do) and it says "this vehicle does not use Entune" or something like that....

My bluetooth audio streaming works just fine, but I have to control everything through my phone and not the Tacoma

can anyone shed some light on how I can get everything to work???

I searched a bunch of threads and couldnt find my problem.... thanks!

Did you buy the truck on Hawaii? I read somewhere that it doesn't work in Hawaii. But if it works on your 4 runner then that may be false information. Where did you get the 4 runner?

I know Satellite Radio isnt supposed to work here (I cant confirm because I have never been a satellite radio user)

Yea, the truck is a Servco truck, which will not support entune app suite. Since the 4 runner was bought in Colorado it works.

I wonder if they can get a software update from another dealership back on the mainland to put on the 2017 for you.

I would, but pick a Canyon, I like the mini sierra look.

If a company strong arms you like this you have every right to shun them.

Change the forum post name "Toyota Service Tech Help Entune Software Update" and maybe post in the Technical or Audio Video forum area.

I think he meant dealer in Colorado, not trading the Taco for a Colorado.

Lawl, in my defense I'm basically running on caffeine right now. But seriously that would be infuriating.

It seems the only real fix is find a salvaged HU from a lower 48 tacoma and use its vin.

I think it's a software difference. Another would be finding a way to install a mainland software image. I doubt Toyota would make physically different radios for just Hawaii, but a software tweak is plausible.
