I'm just going to put up with it.

the bluetooth streaming still works just fine... I can always look at my phone (while parked) for sports.....and I have a sunroof for the "weather app"

I saw somewhere that there is a 200 to 250 dollar price difference to offset this on the vehicles in Hawaii. Not sure if there is any truth to that, I did see it on the internet.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
No. Sorry. I replied after I read the OP. My bust, and I apologize. But FWIW, it was exactly the same symptoms.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled program.

I purchased a 2016 trd sport just over a year ago and they mentioned that navigation would not work when I returned to the mainland, something about the satellites, I dunno. I also figured out, same as you, that Entune was not an option either, the app not accepting my VIN. My plan is to see a dealership when I move back to the mainland and say it doesn't work, using my warranty. Hopefully, someone finds a more sure way to fix or override this.

I don't think this will work. When they run your vin for warranty check it will show your vehicle was sold in Hawaii. Your best bet is to be upfront with the dealer and they can be of better service to you. Tell them you just transferred the truck from Hawaii to the mainland and they can probably do a software upgrade/change at that time. It will save both you and the dealers a lot of trouble and run around.

Yea I thought about doing this.... but I am leaning towards daddy_o's frame of mind.... just be totally up front with them and tell them I bought everything in Hawaii

that being said, our 2016 4Runner that we bought in Colorado, the navigation works just fine here in Hawaii.... so you would think it would also work on the mainland...

yep.... I agree...... it might take a few different dealerships, but I'm sure SOMEONE will hook me up.

Yeah good point, hopefully it's as simple as a software upgrade. Thanks for the info!!

Oahu after Aloha Airlines closed. Originally FBI
    Vehicle:
    2017 Tacoma TRD OR 4X4 MGM(1G3) 6MT T&P package purchased new 18JAN18
So I'm even more pissed. Took delivery 18JAN18 from Servco a 17 DCSB TRD 4X4 OR with tech pgk and entune wouldnt scan during registration and I decided to move onto Toyota owners registration. Lots of issues here:
-No Hawaii service center or working Hawaii zip codes (ended up assigning my San Jose zip instead being my last place of residency for a service center)
-my VIN is listed as an SR5 which when I called entune customer service, the lady there told me I do not have a TRD OR or my VIN I provided her was wrong and for me to read the VIN again slowly, as I could've transposed it while giving it to her
-head unit software is locked from any forms of capable updates and features
-I've basically been like ALL persons who has purchased a vehicle in Hawaii been scammed into purchasing a falsely advertised product. As on paper it clearly states TRD OR not an SR5 and keep in mind, my insurance also reflects TRD OR provided by me when asked what trim level, not sure if there's any price differences. *note insurance is not a problem in premium as I've been with Geico for a long time
-I have referred 6 other friends and they also bought their Taco's at Servco and I dont think they are aware of what I just learned about our shady purchase
-while waiting for my truck since 05JAN18 when it was initially purchased, I had rented 4 different 2017 makes Explorer, Maxima, Pacifica, Enclave. All with working tech/premium features that worked from the head unit! Also I guess the last renter had registred xm radio in the Maxima and it worked on Oahu. So Toyota or Servco must be clueless about signal connectivity cause the factory gps is also part of the same satellites used
We Toyota customers deserve access to what we earnestly paid for based on product reliability and reputation of a well built product! And not to be taken advantage of with inaccurate or non working products paid for through the means of lacking visible notification during contract/ownership signing.
Or... could we have a possible undermining and price profiting of new and used Hawaii Toyota vehicles going on here? Remember I am just 1 of the many so called TRD's on Hawaii's roads who actually are in the database driving SR5's thats 23K and that pricing is mosdef not what any of us in theory paid.
Heres my thoughts as undoubtedly coincidental!

As far as from I've been told by the Honda dealership (so it may be true or hyperbole) Servco owns all delaerships in Hawaii and have a deal with Toyota of Japan therefore vehicles sold here in Hawaii are not Toyota of North America cars. That is why our VINs don't show upas anything but an Sr5 model and that is also why a different head unit won't work. Also of note is that supposedly warranty issues from Hawaii vehicles that have been shipped to America will not be honored unless the VIN is reregistered as a Toyota of NA vehicle and likewise, imported Toyotas from America won't have their warranty covered down here. I have never talked to anyone to find out if that was true or not but have heard more than enough stories to think there is some merit to it. Also of note is that up till about a year or so ago, if I tried to make an online purchase from a Toyota dealership in America (cause Servco charges an arm and leg for parts here) once I input my address in Hawaii it will tell me that they are not allowed to sell to Hawaii addresses because Servco has a deal with Toyota that Toyota of NA won't sell parts to the Hawaii market. Lately it seems as though they will send parts out so maybe they relaxed on that part

Just moved to the mainland myself but I haven't had the time to take it to the dealer. Also just noticed my radio very randomly restarts itself. There is a website where you can download an update and install it yourself, but I could not get it to work. Maybe its just for Entune models but my plan is to eventually take it to the dealer and see what they can do.

    Here's the website though https://securedp.toyota.com/download-app/downloads

Finally got around to taking the truck to a dealer. Went in there for another issue but I had them do the software update (which they charged me for) and it did not change it to the Entune system. However it did fix the messaging system and hasn't restarted itself yet, also the navigation seems to work better as well. Happy I got it. I think I can live without the Entune, now that mine is working properly.

the delete of entune is a software thing not hardware. when i got my 18 OR in hawaii i checked for the entune features at the dealership while i was buying the truck.
it had all the features but nav and sat radio would not work, i asked the dealer and he gave excuses then came clean and said that the maintenence guys forgot to load the hawaii specific software and when they did i now had hawaii maps but many of the sat nav features were now gone and the sat radio options were also gone. when they loaded the sofware they used the micro sd card slot in the headunit. so it will never work right in hawaii and if you take the truck back to the mainland any dealership should have the load card for the continental US.
