    Hello everyone,

I’m due for my 20k service but due to several reasons need to push it back a bit.

Does anyone know the amount of miles Toyota allows you to go over before potentially voiding warranty?

    Thanks,
    Mike

Not sure about that but I would at least try to change the oil yourself.

Call the service center at your dealership.

The failure has to be related to the maintenance work. e.g. if your radio stops working, the dealer can't reasonably refuse warranty repair because you didn't get an oil change on time. If your engine dies due to sludging, or if the rear diff grenades due to water ingress, then yes, but those failures are unlikely if you went over the maintenance interval by just a little.

Thanks for the replies! I’m only 400 miles past 20k but was curious if there was a defined cut off by Toyota.

I’ll have to give them a call. I’m aware that it wouldn’t affect unrelated warranty work but the engine is a big one!

A warranty does NOT become void like that.

If you don’t change your oil for 50k miles and your engine ceases up... Toyota will refuse warranty coverage for your engine.
If you fail to change your oil for 50k miles and your transmission blows up, you’ll get a new transmission under warranty.

The warranty claim has to be traced back to your failure to do a recommended service item. The warranty as a whole is never voided.

You also do not have yo have your service done by a dealer. You can change your own oil.

I think you worry too much.....I had the 10k oil/filter at the dealer @7500 miles, no problem. I had 15k for the second freebee, no problem. Its not in stone within 3-4k.
