I would like to see Toyota build a vehicle to compete with the new Bronco. Something like a new take on the Toyota pick up.Toyota-HiLux-SR5-Pickup-Truck-3.jpg

I honestly thought the 4Runner shares dna with the Toyota pick up. The Tacoma and the hilliux share dna.

The landcruiser funny enough was originally closer to jeep when Toyota was assisting supplementing the US in post WW2. It came from the Toyota jeep BJ, whom Toyota after some backlash from willys over trademark violations, called it the landcruiser…

If Toyota builds the rumored US spec new Land Cruiser, Toyota could build a small 4x4 pick up based on that. There are people that still use compact or midsize work trucks, for work who are not concerned about mpgs, or style.

Toyota doesn't have to build special rigs to compete with Ford, they're out in front leading the way.

Ford has to build special rigs to remain relevant next to Toyota

I like Toyota trucks, I want to see something else from Toyota besides the Toyota LQ.

I wish Toyota would do a Ranger Raptor competitor and/or a Bronco Raptor competitor but then I realized, I wouldn't be able to afford either one anyways.

Maybe the next Gen 4Runner will have something more geared towards the off road crowd.

I don’t think that’s how it works at all. Ford sold almost 439,000 more trucks than Toyota in 2022. Toyota has no trucks that compete with the little Maverick, heavy duty work trucks, performance off-road trucks or electric trucks.

All I meant was Ford is building performance offroad platforms to try and pull customers away from the Tacoma and 4runner.

Toyota doesn't have to prove anything against Ford

I've always assumed American manufacturers are more willing to make deals for fleets than Toyota, but I have no evidence to this

Other way round actually. The Raptor came out in 2010, after which Toyota started offering the TX Pro/Baja and Pro trim lines.

Toyota had a reputation for offroad performance all the way back in the 90s.

What was Ford doing offroad-wise in 1996 when the 1st gen came out? Just plain old f-150s and shitty rangers with Taurus motors

From my own experience you're more right than you know, at least in Canada. Fleet, service, or (first) responder vehicles are almost always Ford, the bigger stuff is all shitbox Dirtymax welding trucks, like 45/55-- big'uns.
