The 1st gen truck. I'd definitely be one of the first to buy one. Imo these are the best looking models ever built, wish they'd design another one more similar to them.
    (A guy can dream, right.)

Should take a cue from ram, which has the ram classic. Do the Tacoma classic. It’d be amazing.

They're coming out with the Toyota Stout.

I love the small cab, my 2 first gens are my everyday riders my new tacoma sits in the garage , i use it when I need to go outta town on a road trip its much more comfortable as far as ride.
You cant beat a first gen in a parking lot ,they sit in those parking stalls with lots of room on both sides for not getting those door dings. Love the narrow body

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the stout isn’t going to look like the 1st gen. The ram classic is the previous generation ram that’s still produced as an alternative to the new rams. Toyota would make a killing if they recreated the 1st gen.

It doesn't look anything like the 1st gen Tacoma. But Toyota isn't going to reanimate a 20+ year old truck to appease a cult following. They're targeting a much bigger mass demographic.

They're entering the new compact market with a truck that is going to obliterate the competition (Ford Maverick and whatever Subaru is calling their third iteration of the Brat).

The talk this week was a Corolla based pick up. No thanks, might not be a bad vehicle but it wouldn't be a truck.

Ok, that’s what I figured. Yeah, I know Toyota wouldn’t recreate the 1st gen but this threads wishful thinking. The stout will sell well but that things terrible looking.

I had a ten minute conversation this morning with a guy that is looking for a 1st Gen size truck but doesn't want to pay $5k+ for something that is 20 years old. I get ask if I want to sell mine at the gas station and fellow employees

My dad has a 04 OR with nearly 300k. Guy offered him 13k recently. As trucks get bigger I think more people appreciate the smaller size and reliability of the 1st gen.

Curious what your definition of a truck is.

Body on frame. Cab and Chasis with the bed or upfit being an independent structure from the cab.

Pretty simple definition, and that may not align with the other definition of trucks. I will use the word truck to describe truck like vehicles.

I'd add rwd based, solid rear axle, two speed transfer case. A trim that starts with a bench seat, rubber floors and a manual transmission. Having a torquey 2.5L n/a I-4. A scale down version of the current Tacoma.

And Jeep should bring back the TJ, but that's not happening, either.

When is the realistic estimated time for the Toyota Stout to become available for purchase in the U.S.? I'm on the fence right now about replacing my 06 Tacoma with 183,000 miles.
She ain't as pretty anymore but she still performs well and is dependable.
