I honestly think it looks better than a new Supra; Would be cool to put the guts (and modern features like A/C, a decent stereo, and ABS) in one of these!

 

The quintessential 90s commuter appliance; A beige 1998 Corolla CE! The inspection expired in May, and it definitely looks like it's been sitting awhile, but I am sad to say that this is not the worst looking 1990s Corolla I've seen...

The car is pretty well-equipped for a base model; It has A/C, an automatic transmission, AM/FM cassette, tilt steering, and even what appears to be factory cruise control (or at least dealer-installed OEM cruise control). The car has intermittent wipers, but only one preset intermittent speed an no variable-speed function; No idea what the story behind the car is, but I'm guessing it belongs to a dealer employee and while it probably runs and drives, something expensive broke that caused it to fail inspection

If you want to know more about the 2000GT there have been a few up on BringATrailer.com recently. Lots of info in the vehicle descriptions and if you've got the time to read through the comments. $1.2m seems high compared to what they've sold for recently (~$850k - $900k). Any talk of flaws or modifying this are ridiculous. Absolutely gorgeous car and there were only 351 ever made over 3 years and only 109 were made left hand drive.

 

No argument there.

It just looks anemic with those pizza cutters on a wide body stance.

 

Never heard of an iMT (intelligent manual transmission), had to look it up...apparently when used it will work the clutch for you, so all you have to do is move the shifter lol. Why not just get an auto with paddle shifters or something at that point.

I guess it's good they are still putting the MT in new cars at least, even if it does come with that tech.

 

I actually like the look of the pizza cutters. Thats part of what defines it as a classic.


Makes it look like the car was built for the joy of driving, not necessarily for going fast.

 

And they're radials too; I have no idea if a car like this would have originally had bias-ply tires...

 

Funny story; I saw this same car broken down on the side of 611 today, with a rag hanging from its window...

I didn't think it was to be seen; I thought it was to say "My poorly maintained shitbox broke down, so please don't tow it!"

 

Here's the 2JZ-swapped 300ZX in question; It's even got a Whorehouse Red interior!

 

I vaguely recall a James Bond movie with one of those in it too.

My grandma sold her RX300 to a family friend a couple years ago and he just hit 100K!

 

I like the 1995-1998 Avalon (which is what this one is) a lot better than the 1999-2005 model in terms of looks; Also, seeing as the newest 1st Gen Avalons are now approaching 25 years old as of this post, they are getting harder and harder to come by in decent condition! Note how both of the running lights are removed on this car; I have a feeling the owner is in the process of rehabbing it...
