It's triple-locked!

Some of you may remember this 1989 FJ60 that I first laid eyes on (and sat in) about two years ago; I never thought to pop the hood, and I initially saw on Selden's website that this had a 5.7L V8. The window sticker confirmed it, and I asked an employee if this LC had a 350 Chevy. Literally nothing else made sense, as the Land Cruiser didn't have a V8 until 1998 if I remember correctly. The employee confirmed that this LC has a 350 under the hood, and it was apparently installed in Japan before the truck came here...

Why would the prior Japanese owner put a Chevy motor in that one?

 

Pretty clean import 80, I like a bubble top 62 too but prefer the earlier 60 front end.

 

Also, I feel like that diff locker is set up a bit differently than US-spec 80s...?

 

That isn't a triple locked 80, it only has the center locker to go from AWD to 4WD. Same switch as mine, he's just missing a rotary switch for the front and rear lockers cause that thing doesn't have em

 

And yours is a true factory triple-locked 80? I've seen a non-locked 80 that was seamlessly converted, but I've never seen a factory one in person...

 

Yeah mine is factory, has the K294 axle code on the door sticker and everything haha

 

How hard is it convert one to triple-locked?
