They're neat trucks, very unique, built by the Toyota heavy machinery/Hino division. But they're just one generation.

I took off my stupid dealer installed roof rack today. The US was the only country where Toyota had dealers install racks on 80 series cruisers and they're terrible.

 

I saw this at Toyota's display at the 2018 Philadelphia International Auto Show!

Oh that reminds me, since you can't stalk me so easily haha. Here's what I did today...





Finally got some roof bars and put on my tent from the truck since that's only been sold for like 4 months now haha

 

In your opinion, are the 1990-1992 models without the center-lock diff still good trucks?

 

1991 and 1992 still have a center locker but the center diff is just open instead of limited slip when not locked. They're good trucks but honestly I wouldn't buy one since they have no front and rear lockers and they have the hold over 4.0L pushrod I6 that makes negative horsepower, it'll run forever though.

 

I would love to have a 1989 or older Cruiser with a 4-speed millennial anti-theft device!

 

Yeah, but nobody will be able to steal it!

And a friend of mine has one and loves it!

 

80 series never had a manual option in the US. 60 series was the last for that, and that's a good option if you have to have a manual, they're dead slow too but slightly less heavy than the 80 series with their engine.
