Hey guys i have a toyota tacoma year 1998 .

Every morning when i start driving my car it make a sound when i put the foot on the gaspedal like wrooooooooooooooooooom it dosnt gear up i change it between D and 2 a few times drive like 5 minutes then it will start working normally. if i let the car stand for about 2 hours i will need to drive for about 1 minute and then the gear will jump in place.

i live in Cambodia and have tried to explain this for a few mechanics but they dont seem to understand, i had one guy remove my gearbox and change some part but still the same problem .

Any idea what it can be ?

Any help would be highly appriciated

My cooling system is bad on the car but can this really effect this ?

    Regards J

I had a 2004 that would do this when cold. Just a quirk with the automatic transmissions I guess. It takes a bit for it to "warm up", but I know exactly what you're talking about. It doesn't like to shift into second gear until the RPMs get really high when cold.
