I dunno, supposedly this engine has forged rods and crankshaft. I to acquire OTT's turbo swap kit once it becomes available so we'll see! I expect the Mishimoto intercooler is in my future as well.

I enjoyed the coverage of the 4th gen by Getty's Garage. My take away is, it's built quite robustly, almost diesel like. Lot's to like there. Yeah the use of plastics is prevalent through the industry. It is what it is. As far as the emergence of timing cover leaks, CCN seems to think it's production line takt time issues. Workers having little to no time to make small corrections. Engine assembly line workers leaving oil residue behind causing the sealant failure.

A production line's takt time is the required pace of production to meet customer demand, calculated by dividing the available production time by the customer's demand. It acts as the "heartbeat" for a lean manufacturing system, ensuring a consistent output that aligns with market needs rather than being based on the production process's actual capacity.

Open deck head is an interesting choice, hopefully the bottom end one piece crank cradle will make up for that. Ideally with the offset crank, the majority of the torque is created when the rod is near vertical..

I've got two years left until the factory B2B warranty runs out. If this keeps up, as much as I gag to do it, I might consider getting an extended warranty right at the end.

But, considering the A25 is in millions of cars on the road, the chances of any one person having an issue are pretty slim or there'd be a lot more complaints about it.

Who knows how widespread the issue could be over time. The A25 was introduced in 2018, and I really don't hear of it around the interweb like you said. We have a '23 Camry with the same engine. Honestly, out of warranty I'd let it get reaaaally bad before considering getting it fixed.
