Hi guys, I'm a bit new here and I don't know much about trucks or cars, but over the last few months i've been doing a lot of research regarding them.

Anyways, I have a 2014 Toyota Tacoma that I got for a very good deal last summer, only issues are it's a stripped down version to a "working vehicle" or something like that, it does not have a V6 either nor is it 4x4.

Over the last few months I've came up around 2500 dollars that I want to spend on my truck and I think this week or next week i'm gonna do it.

I've been looking at a 6" lift as well as some TRD black rims.

I put a small list together of what I want to buy, but as a complete new comer at all of this I could use some help before I actually waste 2500$ on my truck.

    6" lift
Black TRD Rims (Not specific yet on what I should get could use some help)
Larger Tires (Not specific yet on what I should get could use some help)
    Wetokole Leather Seat covers.
    MX Series Mesh grill.

From the research i've done all of that should cost around 1900$ dollars, or maybe a little more i'm not sure.

But my main question is regarding a 6" lift on a 2014 toyota tacoma that doesn't have a v6, it has engine below that (I don't even know the name)
But are there any consequences for doing this lift on a smaller engine as well as getting bigger tires and rims other then gas mileage going down?

    Thanks again guys!

If you don't have the V6, you have the i4 (inline 4).

I first wanted a 6" lift and asked everyone around here about it. They really veer away from 6" lifts. It's a lot more expensive than you think. There are a number of ramifications to purchasing a 6" lift.

It's going to cost a lot more than your budget for a good kit. With a 6" lift, you're going to have to cut some of the internal components (which are permanent modifications which then further depreciates your truck), and then with your big tires, you'll most likely have to get your truck trimmed as well. The other downside to having this 6" lift is that you're going to have one hell of a hard time if you want to revert it back to stock in the future or if you downgrade to a smaller lift. 6" lifts are really overkill. The stock Tacoma or even the 3" lift can handle majority of the terrain that you'll be driving around. (Assuming you'll be doing some mediocre off road driving, and none of that rock climbing stuff). Since you do have a smaller engine, lifting your truck will create more drag especially when driving down highways so it'll put more effort onto your engine. It also depends if yours is 2WD or 4WD.

It really all depends why you need the lift. If it's just for aesthetics and you won't be doing any off road driving/climbing at all, please reconsider. It may not be worth it to do all that. Plus, it's also frowned upon to look like those "huge lifted truck posers who try to compensate for something."

The pro's here can certainly help you out and give you more information. This is just information that I've acknowledged asking almost the same question.

Agree with above. Don't let that money burn a hole in your pocket. Do lots of research here (read, read, read and read some more, and cut and paste by subject as you go) especially in regard to individuals having the i4 before you commit to anything. Nice to have money but worst to spend it on something that you are not happy with or doesn't work for you over the long run. "---and it's gone." as they say on South Park.

Depending on your budget and if your dead set on a 6 inch lift if not look at getting Billy 5100s or something along those lines 3 inch lift and cheapish the smaller motor and bigger tires is gunna kill your tranny without re gearing depending on the tires so that's another cost you'd have to look at I've seen the 6 inch lifts and personally think it doesn't look much different from the 3 inch it's all based on exactly what you want though

Most 6" lifts I've seen start around $2000 and add at least $1000 to install.

well tommorow I was going to go a body shop and get a quote reguarding a 6" lift, but I'm guessing you would all recommend getting a 4" instead of 6".

I originally though a 6" lift would cost around 1200 but I guess I was wrong,

Dumb question though, what if I get a 4" lift and some huge tires wouldn't that increase the height of the truck?

Thanks again guys! I'm really new reguarding this stuff and by far need some advice
