I purchased a used 2012 Toy Tacoma in January. I don't recall smelling the horrible smell that I now smell every time I turn it on. It last about 2-5 minutes. It is an awful pungent perfume smell. Any suggestions?

    Sounds like mold.

I'd pull out the cabin filter and check that first. Next Check the a/c drain tube to make sure it's not clogged.

I have already replaced the cabin filter. I will try the drain tube, thank you!

My brother in law gave me that suggestion as well. It helped for the first time I turned it on, but the next day it still came back to that funky smell!

There is some form of bacteria growing within your a/c system- due to something being clogged or not working properly. I'm not entirely sure what's the Taco AC component consist of, but I know the vehicles we work on have a dryer assembly that's suppose to separate the moisture from refridgerant from the AC lines- and from time to time gets clogged then we end up replacing it.
