So I'm scheduled to meet with a dealer tomorrow regarding the purchase of a DCLB OR and was wondering what others experiences are with the Costco buying program. Is it a good deal? What is the "Addendum Sticker" is this MSRP + add-ons?

    This is what it states:

The vehicle you select may have an “Addendum Sticker” (displayed next to the MSRP/Window Sticker) listing additional dealer-installed items, such as window tinting, VIN etching, pin striping, etc. Costco members receive a 15% discount off the price listed on the Addendum Sticker. These items are optional. If you prefer a vehicle without these items and they are not easily removable, please ask your Authorized Contact at the Costco dealership to review your options for acquiring an alternative vehicle, such as a factory order or dealer trade.

Tip: View the manufacturer’s invoice and MSRP for the vehicle you selected so you can see how much you saved as a Costco member!

Does this sound like a possible winner or could I do better on my own?

Here's info about the “Addendum Sticker”

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thnx

We used it in 2016. Got $1000 under invoice right off the bat, this was in FL. Still was able to do a little negotiating even though at first they said we couldn’t Requested a truck without any dealer or port installed accessories so no addendum sticker.

They do get to choose their own price though, so don’t expect all dealers to have the same prices, though I do believe they are prenegotiated with Costco to be a decent price.

Costco is a great starting point, and may also be your final number, and most of the dealers won’t dick you around as much as they need to reviews at a certain point to keep the Costco program which does drive them sales. We were able to do it all over the phone and email. The first time I went to the dealership was to pick up the truck.

So this one has the tonneau cover. So theoretically it should be invoice + price of tonneau - the 15% - Toyota's less $1000 = Final Price ???

Yes... but each dealer can choose their own price and it may differ between models as well, so don’t expect it will definitely be $1000 under invoice. I’d have to go back and look at my paperwork but I think that came out somewhere around $3,500 off.

I bought my 2017 through Costco a couple years ago. I had them order it and it took about 4 months to come in. During that time I took the price that I was quoted through Costco to numerous dealers in Southern California and nobody would come in within $1,500 of the price on something similar. Several dealers told me it's not even worth negotiating with them because they couldn't come close. I found a few similar deals out of state but it wasn't worth the cost of airfare and my time driving home so I just waited until my order came in from Costco. Did my test drive and was out of there in 30 minutes. Added bonus for ordering through Costco they gave a 30 or 50% off accessories coupon that was good for up to either $300 or $500 can't remember which anymore. I used it on a bedmat, all season floormats, and bedrail cleats.

When I tried it the closest dealer was over 2 hour drive away and wouldn’t even return my call at first. And when they did wouldn’t even price out a manual transmission double cab like I wanted offering a single cab 4 cylinder instead. I was very disappointed in the COSTCO car buying experience.

They don't even make a single cab any longer nor any manual 4 cylinders, sounds like they really didn't want to help you.

Never bought through Costco. But I did get a vehicle quote through them once.

Later determined I could actually buy the vehicle outside of Costco for cheaper. I seem to recall the Costco route sets a predetermined price and they don't allow "haggling".

Probably has 100% to do with the dealer they've negotiated the deals with and the market you're in.

Addendum Stickers are the biggest rip offs dealers can do. They’re low cost items that they mark up 400%. Tell the dealer you want none of the dealer add ons or the “Addendum Sticker” items. It’ll probably knock 1500 off the price. They’re going to tell you that cops carry around Shit for window etching which is bullshit. Just say no to the add ons

That was nearly 2 years ago when they still had 2016s to sell and the 17’s were just coming out.

Gotcha, they would explain the 4 Cylinder Manual, still not sure how they came up with single cab though.

I tried to use the Costco program, but ended up finding a dealer to beat the price and even give me $700(maybe it was $500) that was part of the Costco rebate program that I missed out on by not using a participating dealer.

I bought my 2011 Tacoma through Costco. $1000 below invoice price. Like others I also took the printed paperwork/Costco pricing to a couple of dealers and they wouldn’t match that price. Both dealers told me to kick rocks.

Went through the Costco auto program about 3 months ago. They always send you to a specific dealer. I got in contact with the rep from the chosen dealer. They didn’t have many options and wanted me to order one and wait about 1 month. Pricing was also going to be invoice pricing.
I ended up showing the emails to a salesman from a well stocked dealer around my home, Longo Toyota, and the dude matched the Costco invoice price. Got exactly what I was looking for, minus a couple of add ons that I don’t care for.
Walked out with my 2018 SB OR 4x4 in white...at invoice price. Extremely happy.

Highly recommend Costco Auto Program. I sold my 2018 TRD Sport w/33,000 miles through Carvana in August for $750 more than what I paid for it. I ordered my 2021 Army Green in Dec through the Costco program after struggling to find one in stock and received $4426 off the MSRP. I picked it up Friday night and they also had the $1000 cash back/$750 military rebate to bundle with it. Bottom line the other dealers in the area couldn't/wouldn't match the price for an army green with the options I wanted (Premium Sport)...some selling for more than sticker price. I already swapped the tires from my previous truck and installed steps, next will be the pro grill that I pulled from my previous truck

Looking to purchase through Costco as well. However in the email they sent it didnt give any pricing. Is that normal, or should I contact them again? Also, the dealership that contacted me said it would be 6 to 8 months out if I order today.

Sounds like the dealership is trying to blow you off. That way they can say they responded but not have to honor Costco pricing.

Didnt even think about that. Thanks for the heads up. I was disappointed that it was going to take that long. Should I have received a quote in the email?

We just bought our second Tacoma using the Costco buyers program. Our first was in 2009 and basically as others got under asking by several thousand.

this time buying our 2021 TRD Sport I took a different approach. Used the program as a starting point and did some negotiating down from there. Basically if you just took the Costco price you would save about 8% off MSRP in my area. I got it down to 14% off MSRP with some extra negotiation.

Makes the buying process much nicer than normal. Most people go in just trying to get to where you start with the Costco program.

they should send you a pricing guide, I believe it’s also on their site so you know what the price is and the price for options. The dealer sends you their addendum which outlines what they will charge you for dealer installed options. For example one dealer may not charge you for tint they install and another will take 20% off that price. I actually shopped 3 dealers. We just put in different zip codes as there are several in the Phoenix area.
