It will be recorded in the Toyota database. Check your VIN on the Toyota website.

I was just saying the coating saved me in regards of them accepting the recall. I got a whole new frame

I have a 2000 Tacoma. The frame was very rusty in 2014 when I took it to a local Toyota dealership. They would not deem the frame replaceable, but admitted it was quite rusty, so they sprayed it with anti-rust coating. By 2017, my frame had rusted through, but of course it is now outside the warranty. I'm assuming I'm SOL now.

Yes, you are correct, I mis-spoke. However, they didn't deem it crushable, they would now of course, but outside of the warranty for me....

Same Crap Here. I was able to follow the trail. 03 Taco 4x4 Extended cab. Bought in Nov '16 with 90 K. This past summer noticed a Rear Diff leak. @ different shops said they patched it up.
Not! Blew the rear and lost the left rear brake line at the same time. Also for some time could smell fuel in the cab. Took to a Tranny/Rear shop. Part to rebuild $3400, Labor $900 plus brake line. But, he told that this frame was shot and not replaced.

The Used Car Dealer I purchased from said it was a replaced frame. I'm about the 4th owner.

I called Toyota and got the following information from the VIN. In 2010 the framed was retreated with Protection which extended the warranty a total of 15 years (from off the LOT date-January 03. They also replaced the spare under carriage plate which was another known issue. I put about 8,000 miles on in 4 years.

It is now worthless unless I want to fix the rear (which was probably caused by rusted pinholes- brake line , probably from a rusty spring or just rust) plus frame work? Is it worth it? Good engine, low mileage for an 03. No oil burn!

Bottom line, if I had known in 2018 that this frame was not replaced , I could have at least had a shot at negotiating a frame or Buyback from Toyota. It seems all Toyota Truck have Frame Rust issues. Especially here in PA. I had a Ranger prior, same thing.

A rust shop told me that when Toyota redid the corrosion spray, their plan was to hopefully get it through the 15 year warranty phase.

    Worked like a charm

    Disgusted
