Would it help telling you that gas is $2.69 / gallon here, there is 0.0% sales tax and, there's nearly 35,000,000 less people.

I made it 49 miles after the light came on yesterday to make it to the Flyin J in SC to fill up for $2.52 / gal. Put in 19.74 gallons.

I am up to 5,500 miles on my '14 regular cab stock 4x4, 2.7, 5-speed. Mileage has dropped a little since they switched to winter gas; last tank was the truck's worst ever at 21.7 in mixed city and highway driving (about 70 percent highway). That was also with 4x4 on maybe 10 percent of the miles because we had snow.

I don't drive overly fast most of the time (60 mph on two-lanes and 65 - 72 on interstates depending on conditions), but I don't short -shift it either. Normally I don't hit 5th until 55 mph unless I have reached a 45 mph or higher cruising speed. The 2.7 really doesn't like being lugged, and it lugs easily if you shift too soon.

I've been tracking my milage and it don't matter how I drive fast or slow lol I still get an avg of around 15mpgs... Hell I drove the other day 80 miles and used 1/4 fighting the wind the whole way, it was blowing like crazy and I was going right into it...

It would be interesting to compare 5-speed to automatic mileage. My impression would be that the automatic would cost some mileage with the 2.7.

Two questions - why does your Fuelly say 20.9, but you say 15 mpg? And, how do you know the Ram got 16.5 if you only drove it for one day...could have been a long day, I guess...

First fill up running around town and rural 25-30 mile trips 21.4MPG
Second fill up, cold and windy 55-65 MPH 300 mile trip with a few city stops and stop and go highway traffic thrown in 24.1 MPG.

I generally beat EPA highway estimates on all my vehicles hopefully that will continue still breaking in and getting used to it so we will see.

Kenjw, you should update your details to add 4x4...I am looking at the forum on a Kindle, and the photo is pretty small. I had to search for a while to see your truck was 4x4...

Update for Thanksgiving Week, 2014... Southern California

87 octane gasoline (with up to 10% ethanol diluted in) was $2.85/gal at Costco.

My 2010 Double Cab, Automatic V-6, 4WD, combined hwy and city was 16.

If only city driving, it drops to around 15, if only hwy. it raises to 18-20... not exceeding 2000 RPM seems to be a big key in mileage. If non ethanol contaminated gas is used (Mexico), my mileage improves by 1-2 mpg.

These are very close to what the window sticker gave back in 2010 (16-20, if I recall correctly).

20.9 is average Imperial MPG for every tankful i've run in it since buying it. in May. That translates to 17.4 US MPG. Colder temps caused my mileage to nosedive (icy roads have improved it a bit, as did winter tires). Most of my days are quite long, very repetitive, and this one was no different. A little over 400 miles, I filled it when I took it, and filled it upon return. Of those 400 miles, 200 of them were on slushy, soggy logging roads, doing 10-40mph, no idling, the rest on wet pavement, at or very close to the 55mph limit.

I don't know that a Ram would stay together doing what I do, but anything that big and that fast deserves commendation for getting fuel economy that good.
