i can usually pull 19 around town. but i only get 17 on the highway (only 70mph) goes up if i do 65mph

I now have larger tires now but this has always been the case when stock as well. Anyone else get lower mileage on the highway than around town? I live in orlando so its not light traffic

My truck's the same way. I wish there was a higher overdrive gear to get better mileage at 70-75 mph. Its better for me to have better around town mileage though.

2015 trd sport access cab and im getting combined high 18 to a solid 19. Best I've seen was 22mpg driving 400 miles with no gas light on, filled up with 18 g. And that was with about 450lbs in the bed. Beyond content with how she's been treating me. My 04 tundra double cab with 33s and 4.10s got a paltry 11-14mpg so I was a little nervous about another toyota truck since I know they are NOT built for mpgs. My Silverado with 33s got 21mpg with a lift and full exhaust but that thing was falling apart at 100k. I'll take reliability and longevity over mileage but so far pretty happy. Still doesn't hold a candle to my camry but hey.....truck.

Well, the 6th gear on the Manual Trans runs MUCH higher RPM's than the 5th gear on the Automatic at the same speed...

If I had known this, I would have gone with an auto (even though I prefer the manual)

went on a road trip, almost identical truck driven by my friend and his automatic got 3-5 more MPG than my stick.
same gas stations, and both trucks clean/maintained.

to keep decent mileage, I have to stay under 60mph

while the automatic can hold 75mph and get the same mileage I get at 60mph or under.

Is there a calculator that can tell me how much % change I have to figure for going from the stock 245/75/16 to 265/70/17 ? They are cooper a/t discover and I'm sure it threw my speedo off a bit. Also what air pressure is everyone running ? I'm going to try a different gas station as well for next fill

Great. So I input my tire information and I got, "-3.6%" What exactly does that mean? . My other question is, not all 265 tires area equal because of different tread wear patterns, all terrain, street, etc right? If I put my cooper 265 discoverer next to my buddies 2016 trd sport 265 tire, mine looks much beefier.
Thanks! Math is NOT my strong point lol
(pretty sure it means im getting 3.6% more distance than its reading)

I've found the sticker mileage to be pretty accurate for my Tacoma (14/18 mpg) and I average about 17.5 mpg with a mix of city and highway driving. My average mpg was up in the 18's when I had the 265/75-16 Duratracs but it dropped down about 1 mpg when I switched to the Cooper A/TW in stock 265/70-16 last year. I'm not sure if the drop in mpg can be attributed more to the size change or the fact that the Coopers have a softer compound and more rolling resistance than the Duratracs.

My Tacoma gets its best gas mileage (19-20 mpg) when driving on two-lane roads at 55 mph. It drops as I go faster on the highway, especially above 70 mph thanks to the gearing of the 6-speed manual.
