It's used in war zones because it's usually a domestic vehicle in warzones. Not because bad guys like toyotas. Because it's there, so you tech it out

Our military is shipping them here to be armored up and sent over there to be used through the Batelle contracts that was awarded last year. They could save so much money outfitting 3rd gen tacomas and sending them there, but there is a reason they aren't.....

You know Toyota spent too much money on the US Tacoma to ever waste their time importing a Hilux.

From time to time I'll see a diesel Hilux here in Texas with Mexico plates. I'd be interested in a diesel Tacoma or Hilux if the fuel economy was significantly better.

They were originally going to out that motor in the Ram. But had concerns about the fuel economy. Fiat then. Ought out Chrysler the. Used there own V6 diesel. I heard Ford was working on a diesel for the F-150. It will probably have a V6 diesel too.

I would be chicken to buy any Ford engine. Which Land Rover engine is it? Is it a V6?

Just found out today that Toyota R&D is also located in Ann Arbor Michigan. I also saw this job posting on their page.

It's could be an engine for another Toyota vehicle. But the part circled in red gives us an idea roughly how much money is budgeted for engine related projects.

2.5M per year project management wise is not a lot of money. It's pretty miniscule actually for a project budget

I agree, especially when that budget appears to fund multiple engine projects. That might be the reason why the 3.5 minivan motor was re-tooled for the 3rd gen: to save costs with a crappy budget.

Agree. Several years ago everyone wanted Diesel but with all the new requirements/restrictions might as well stick with gas. I need to scoop up a real V-8 before they go the way of the dinosaur. Either a 5.7 Tundra or the new 5.6 direct injected Titan ... the best two V-8's out there IMO.
