Okay, so I am in Canada. Same truck, same frame, cold climate, road salt etc. etc. When Can I expect a recall or class action lawsuit, or do I get the shaft?

Interesting how they determine members of the class. Somewhere there is an ole boy from Arkansas that just took a wet bite out of Toyota, maybe they will realize not to sell shoddy pieces, and double check 3rd gen quality.

So I guess I'll be for calling the dealership tomorrow and schedule an inspection as well as have the leaf springs looked at. Any links to Toyota literature on this? I've got literature on the springs but not the frame

Exactly....the entire truck was taken apart and no longer 'factory installed'. Our local dealer had purchased a shitload of frames ahead of time and they'd put your name on one so it wasn't all that long (3 months) wait.

The main hose of my air box wasn't tightened down and I had to add some 'foam' in the fender to prevent it from vibrating. After 2 weeks, I had a very loud clunking sound that happened while going over bumps/turning. It was so loud, even my neighbor heard it while walking her dog. The dealer kept the truck for a day and claimed 'we didn't find anything' - which is complete BS. It never clunked after that. I'm pretty sure they found something that came loose or was never tightened to begin with.

I also traded the truck in.......

Do you think there is a risk of some backlash there? I know the 1st gen trucks had problems and it didn't seem to matter, as the 2nd-gen sold quite well. I'm just wondering how long before people just start thinking F150 or something instead.

It's mind boggling that Toyota continued having this problem after the 1st gens. I honestly haven't payed much attention to the 2nd gens. I had no idea it was that prevalent.

I was thrilled to hear this! Some of us in the Northeast missed the limited service window that ended last March. If you missed it you were on your own as far as toyota was concerned.

I called back yesterday and they said this still needs to be approved by the court, but when it is they will send a certified letter to all the truck owners affected.

My frame was so bad I had to have it repaired but hopefully I'll get reimbursed for the cost and get a new frame..

Here was my frame before the repair, 175K miles, 10 years old. I used my truck for commuting in Massachusetts 30 miles a day.

So what did Toyota change on the 11-15 Tacomas frames?

I talked to the lawyer in Arkansas that filed the frame rot class action lawsuit against Toyota.

This mother is one of the reasons for the $3 billion class action lawsuit and she was the one on TW getting people to add their name to the lawsuit. here:

My son purchased his very first vehicle... a 2006 Tacoma. It was used but he saved his money and fell in love with the Tacoma. I got the recall notice for the leaf springs and when I brought it to the dealer they showed me the frame and told me about the LSC. BUT... they refused to do anything about it because it was treated in 12/14 with the coating (4 months before my son bought it). One year and 4 months later the corrosion is worse. How can it be worse unless they did a piss poor job, tried to cover it up, didn't remove the existing rust, didn't prep it, are using BS products! Toyota refuses to do anything about it. I spoke with the customer service and opened a case. The supervisor Christopher Adamo told me the following:

    · “I am the end of the line”

    · “There will be no one that will want to listen to you”

    · “There is no one that will even want to hear your story”

    · “Your story is like many others. The answer won’t change”

Are you kidding me? This is how they talk to customers! They acknowledge the problem (and BTW if you do some research you will find that Tundras have a similar problem) and they have a remedy and when it doesn't work they say "oh well... we tried! Sorry!"

So what do I tell my son who is now stuck with a $15000 paperweight?!?!

My next step was to call CEO of North America Jim Lentz His number is 310-468-4000 Ext 5368. This brought me to an operator and I asked for Jim Lentz. He forwarded me to the Executive Analyst mailbox and I left a message. The mailbox said an analyst would contact me within 1 business day. Waiting for a reply...

    I have done the following:

    1) File a complaint with NHTSA against your dealership and Toyota. Toyota, for safety reasons should buy back these trucks because they are not safe to you or other people. NHTSA can force Toyota’s hand on this and should for safety reasons. https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/VehicleComplaint/

    2) File the same complaint against your dealership with the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney’s General Office

    3) File the same complaint with the Better Business Bureau https://w...ww.bbb.org/consumer-c…/file-a-complaint/get-started

    3) Call Philip Milligan (479) 783-2213. He is an attorney in Arkansas running the class action law suit.

I have also created a Facebook page called Toyota Frame Corrosion where I am sharing information and hoping people will like the page and share information to help us all fight Toyota. Maybe the CEO should give us the millions he makes in salaries to help a kid buying his first truck... But that would be the right morale thing to do, wouldn't it?

My bet nothing, but they will also have to be taken to court to do the right thing. I would undercoat your frame in the mean time.

Oh man I hope not. Maybe I should wait before dumping anymore money into the truck. Really hate to trade it in for a 2016...no TRD supercharger. I have been treating the underside of the truck with fluid film every year. Truck is only two years old, but no signs of rust except for a few bolt heads and the exhaust pipe. Although I do see surface rust on my Fox bypass shocks, I was a little surprised by that. Maybe they need to be stripped and re-painted.
