Toyota to pay out billions?

I read in the paper today where Toyota is liable to have to pay billions in settlement dollars. The article went on to say there are literally hundreds of lawsuits being filed and quite a significant amount of suits over the recent Kelly Blue book "de-value" rating issued on Toyota recall vehicles. Seems that Kelly loped off about 3.5% on the average of recalled Toyota values and there are numerous lawsuits pending and being filed daily from those wanting to be recouped for loss of auto value on all such recalled vehicles. It gave values of devaluation such as $300 for Corollas up to $750 for Sequoias. The article gave a comparison to the Ford 2008 Explorer settlement done due to rollover potential and Ford settling out of court by giving owners a $300-$800 credit toward a new Ford product purchase.

How do you feel about this? Do you think receiving a one-time payout for vehicle de-valuation is justified and really how much do you think should be paid out to new and/or recalled Tacoma owners? Would you rather have a cash settlement or a settlement that can only be used on a Toyota product purchase?

It appears that this is a very real possibility and who knows maybe Toyota has those who monitor sites such as this and your feedback/input might be valued. I really like my 2010 Prerunner but don't mind saying all of this de-valuation talk/stigma surrounding Toyota is a bit concerning. But I've been a Toyota owner since back in the 70's so it's going to take a whale of a lot to make me question Toyota products in the long haul.
