I guess I'll get a new set of mats. Mine are still wrapped in plastic. :p

that happened to me twice. both in the winter when the mats were frozen and crusty. the first time i was talking to my mom about how easily my truck spins out (she is scared shitless of that) and i shoould stud the tires. put it to the floor for only a second and it stuck on the rounded edge of the mat. i did end up scaring the hell outta her and she was impressed how i kept my cool. i shiften into neutral and it was bouncing off the rev limiter, so i shut it off. we were like 20 feet away from out house. she said she woulda froze and ended up going into the snow bank or someones house.

the second time i was coming home from swimming and i dont remember why but i put it to the floor for only a sec and it started spinning and bouncing off the rev limiter again so instead of shiting it into neutral i just shut it off not thinking it was still in gear...locked tires and ice dont match well, exspecially with no power steering or brakes. i was about 10 inches from smashin my rear fender into a parked f 150. thankfully it was getting kinda late and there was nobody around.

I think the investigation on the Lexus will conclude that the stuck gas pedal was computer related and not "mat" related. The crash impact alone could had cause the mat to embed itself under the pedal. My Weathertech liners in the instructions stated "never" place the liners on top of existing carpeted floor mats.

I don't think they would go ahead with a massive recall and all the bad press that goes along with it if they weren't pretty sure there was something wrong w/ the recalled product. Maybe the Lexus thing was a computer rather than a floor mat, but I don't think they would try to divert attention by spending millions of dollars on a recall of millions of vehicles.

yeah, but in the meantime, no mats? Like I'm going to let the carpet get mud ground into it for months until they "develop a fix"? Somehow, that doesn't seem like it would involve a great deal of product development.

"Investigators with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have determined that a rubber all-weather floor mat found in the wreckage was a couple of inches longer than the mat that belonged in the vehicle."

Did the crash impact stretch the mat also?

    Exactly...

More like an 'excuse' for them to get out of responsibility of causing accidents.

Why don't they gives us all a refund...and let us buy whatever floor mats we want??

Just curious, is TRD Floormat almost same size as Standard mat? I dont have problem with my floormat with two hook that holding the mats. I used to have the hooks with the mats in my old car and suv. I don't have any problem with that. I don't get it.

This story really bothers me. Something just doesn't sound right. Even disregarding the push-button ignition switch, the cop still had options. The car has more than enough braking power to overcome the engine. It's not a Top Fuel dragster we're talking about. And I'm sure he didn't wait until over 100 mph to hit the brakes, I would've nailed the brakes as soon as the car started accelerating on its own. Or he could've just popped the shifter into neutral. I've never seen a car not respond to that. And you'd think a long-time veteran police officer would know how to keep his calm and react accordingly. There is just something not right about this. And what happened to the occupants of the Explorer? Being rear-ended at over 100 mph surely caused their deaths as well?

I took my floor mats out a couple weeks after purchasing the vehicle, and put in weathertechs. My floor mats are still in my closet though, Are they still trying to kill me? Should I consider locking them in!?

Don't lock them in, as surely they'll just tunnel out. You must burn them.

I honestly dont think they will recall Vehicles rather than tell you to take out your Floor mats and then hopefully will do a one for one swap for the driver side or hopefully all of the mats.. but at the same time.. today in a non driving setting i tried to push my mat into an compromising situation and with the Hooks in place on the mats i couldnt get them to move anywhere near the pedal.. there for I will be keeping my mats in my truck until I get FREE replacement mats

There is no way I am removing my floormats until I have another set from Toyota sitting there ready to put in...

BTW who the hell is flooring their Tacoma on a regular basis anyway? I have the 6cyl with no upgrades and am not light on the pedal, but still can't remember when I've needed to FLOOR the thing.

Drive slower ppl and your pedal won't stick...
