Toyota to recall 3.8million vehicles (Tacoma too)

And a running engine continues to provide steering and braking boosting- Turn the engine off and you will have a harder time steering and have to mash brakes harder @ higher speeds. Concur with shift to neutral and brakes to a stop in a safe spot away form the road.

 

The Lexus is apparently very susceptible to this and I think it has been recalled before for this exact problem. Just make sure the floor mat is well up underneath the accelerator pedal and that the bottom of the pedal is no where near an edge of the mat.

 

As I just stated above.......you will never get "the full truth" for litigation liability reasons.

I like my stock TRD floor mats. I think Ill keep them...

if anything it will probably be some sort of revised clip to hold the mat in position...doubt we will be getting new floor mats.

Was removed when weather techs were put in. Had to notch the weather tech for the clutch so I'm done.

Yup, that's horrible.

 

The odd thing about this is he was a police officer and should have been trained in how to stop the car especially if he had the time to call 911. One of the many things that officers work on is driving skill like the pit maneuver and driver safety so he should have know what to do.

 

I can say that if the accelerator gets stuck your screwed...screwed at 120 mph

 

I drove my brand spankin new tacoma home with flip flops... I hope I didn't break anything in the car by not using safety shoes.

I remember a time when there was no such thing as floor mat retainer clips...and I think most of us survived
