FYI... I just saw this today.

SAN DIEGO — Toyota Motor Corp. announced Wednesday it will redesign the gas pedal and make other changes in several models of its Lexus and Toyota vehicles to address the potential of sudden acceleration caused by floor mat interference.
A preliminary San Diego County Sheriff’s Department report pointed to a gas pedal entrapped by a floor mat in a loaner Lexus ES 350 as the apparent cause of an August high-speed crash in Santee that took the lives of California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Saylor and his family.
In addition to reconfiguring the accelerator, the company said it will also change the shape of the floor pan in some models in order to increase the space between the pedal and the floor and it will also install a brake override system that will cut the power in case of a sudden acceleration event in which the gas pedal and the brakes are being pressed simultaneously.
    The cars affected are the 2007 to 2010 Camry, 2005 to 2010 Avalon, 2004 to 2009 Prius, 2005 to 2010 Tacoma, 2007 to 2010 Tundra, 2007 to 2010 Lexus ES 350, 2006 to 2010 Lexus IS 250, and 2006 to 2010 Lexus IS 350.
The company said it will start notifying owners of the ES 350, Camry and Avalons by the end of the year. Notifications to owners of the other five models will start in 2010.
