For those of you who are looking to replace tires on your 3rd gen at a regular tire shop just keep this in mind if they replace one of you tpms sensors. I replaced my oem GY tires with some Toyo Open Country AT2 LT265/75/16 and they damaged one of the sensors. They replaced it with an "oem" replacement part which my trucks ECU did not recognize. After debating back and forth with Firestone and 3 trips back they had to get a direct replacement from Toyota. They then dismounted the tire in question, entered the new toyota sensors ID number into their scan tool, installed the new sensor, remounted the tire, programmed the sensor to the trucks ECU, and my TPMS light was finally cleared. It should be noted that the TPMS fault light was on and my truck would not read any pressures on the digital display due to not recognizing that replaced sensor. Just an FYI.

Tire Rack sells OEM sensors if you are looking for price. I know they work because I have them on my FN FX wheels, but at the time the dealer had to initiate them because no one had the Tacoma 3rd gen in their computer. I later learned choosing a '15 Camry would have fixed that.

They now have the 3rd gen models in the new scanners.

i just ran into this issue a few days ago after my alignment with new tires. I got OEM toyota TPMSs from the shop and the tire pressure does not show up...So you are saying the new TPMSs need to be calibrated into the ECU? I think a shop would know that you have to do that... any solutions to this? The shop told me it has to do something with my truck but I don't really want to believe that since it was working just fine before I brought the truck in to get the alignment.

Ran into the same issue a couple weeks ago on my 2nd gen with Firestone. I ended up having to go to Toyota for calibration. Firestone payed for the sensor they broke and the service from Toyota. Needless to say, it took four trips for the TPMS light to finally go away.
