You can achieve the same lift with a $450 set of 5100's.
Hell for the price Toyota is charging you can get some really nice Coil Overs! and UCA's.

    As for the warranty question?
In order for them to deny your warranty? They would need to prove that what you changed directly caused the failure.
So for the coil overs; they can absolutely deny any replacement of the CO's.
But as for the drive train?? The lift does NOT alter any OEM factory components in the suspension or the drivetrain. All it does is alter the static resting height of the suspension. It didn't touch you differential, transfer case, transmission, engine, ECU or any of the other components.
Your suspension and drivetrain has exactly the same range of movement as a stock truck. (Maybe a slight increase in down travel) So if you blew the Tri-bearing on your CV shaft?? Yeah I can see them denying that claim. Or if you tore the bushings in the LCA's?

So IMHO if you did an aftermarket lift they could only deny the actual components that you replaced. (Of course; it is a good selling point to "fear" people into buying their lift.) The additional cost of purchasing their lift pays for anything that could go wrong from that lift. Everything else would still be covered under warranty.

They are 99% sure that the lift will not cause any issues! (Decades and thousands of lifted truck/Tacoma's have proven that you're more likely to win "Powerball" then you are to have issue caused by a 2-3" lift on these trucks. And if you do? It's more than likely caused by poor installation!

    Sorry for the long reply.
    So; is it worth it??
    That's up to you.
I'm just saying. You can do a hell of a lot better for that price!

Appreciate you getting back! That is really good to hear. I have been around trucks my whole life, and I know each lift kit can have its own personality. Some argue the kit is too high in price, but I see it as also getting a grill upgrade to a TRD Pro style. That alone is $400-$500. My dealer quoted me $2041 out the door, including tax, and alignment. Since it is a new truck, I get full warranty on it as well.

and to further what you mentioned, if one was satisfied with the stock suspension and is not planning to use their truck off-road, one could add a 1" top hat spacer in the front and 1" block in the back and get the same lift for less than $150. Result would be 2" lift in front and 1" lift in back.

Also, unless one has spent a few thousand miles driving a new Tacoma with the stock suspension before adding the Taco suspension lift kit for $2K+, how could you ever make a valid comparison of the differences with a suspension change?

Yeah, some dealerships may offer a discount on the Lift Kit...maybe $100? I've read the TRD Grill includes the fixture for the front camera.

As for you having a manual transmission on a Sport? I don't see why they couldn't do it.

Providing the dealership with your VIN should confirm whether or not the Lift can be done on your truck.

@Trapper Carl I think it depends on the dealership. I was able to have Capitol Toyota in Salem, OR install this kit on our DCLB. Hopefully there's a dealer in your area that is willing to do it!

Nice ride Matt... Mines going to look very similar, but in SX trim. It'll be an access cab in white, with black alloys. What size tires are you running? I think they offer a nice balanced look.

The grill allows the TSS sensor, and camera to be mounted lower to insure it works as engineered after the lift. Even though people say that these features work on their lifted trucks, Toyota is making sure there is no liability.

That is a nice price...the places I checked with ALL want customers to order through the dealership doing the install.

I was having a hard time convincing the dealership I bought my truck to do that. They said it's a set price to order/install. Labor would be different if I bought the Lift Kit elsewhere. They discouraged a discounted kit and they will get you through the drive-thru with increased labor charges.

I saw a set of shock, sprinks and struts with a few 1000 miles go for $350. The dealer installed on a new truck, the owner just did a 6 inch lift. Lets it go cheap.

So I did some shopping around and found a Toyota dealer in Salinas, CA also selling the kit for $1173 with free shipping.

Then I read this post, so I called my local Toyota dealer (service dept) and asked if I had to buy the parts from them in order for them to install. He said no. They will install Toyota parts from another dealer. Their installation quote is just over $1000.

So, total TRD Lift cost will be $2173!

Just purchased the Kit, and when it gets here and AFTER my truck arrives (around Feb 1), I'll schedule my service appt for installation!

    Whoop whoop!

Well, I'm glad you shopped around based on everyone's input...and got a comparable price to what I found here in Delaware.

    $1450 + $720 = $2170

The SALE price you found for the lift kit saves you $277. That's made up by the labor charges to install in Cali...$1000 vs $720 here in Delaware. Same-same on the price ($3 difference)

I use to live in SoCal/LA so I know about the sales tax...there are no sales taxes here in Delaware. One of the perks of living in the First State.

Post pics of your install and glad you got a great deal.

UPDATE: I deleted the previous post because of course the two Toyota dealerships in town changed their quotes when it came down to actually getting ready to purchasing. The good news is I was able to leverage one local dealership's quote to get the same price at the dealership I am purchasing my Tacoma from. I just didn't want the hassle of driving it around from one dealership to the next to get the lift.

So the final price was as follows:

$1173 (no tax) for parts at Salinas Toyota
$100 shipping charge (was $300 less the $200 maximum for "free" shipping)
$1300 (no tax) for labor and installation at the dealership I purchased my new Taco from

Grand total: $2573 total (no additional tax)

About $400 more than originally told, BUT it's going to look amazing. And I don't have to deal with the hassle of driving to separate dealerships to get the work done. The service lady, Tami, at the local dealership was awesome! She asked her mgr in front of me if they could match the other dealer's price, and he said yes. Then she told me it's $1300 straight, even though it was actually $1320. And she said that she only lets two of their installers do it because they do quality work (it's still relatively new, less than a year since Toyota started offering these kits). And she said she's gotten a similar lift on her 4Runner so I definitely trust her. Just great service, even though the price was a bit high.

    THAT'S GREAT!

As long as you're happy and the price isn't too steep...well, $2K+ isn't SUPER crazy but it it makes you happy...Go For It! (And you did!)

Right now, with our Kitchen Remodel to include Hardwood Floors (Crazy Money) is taking priority. Once the dust settles, maybe I can present my case in May on the 1 year anniversary of my Sport.

Don't forget to include BEFORE & AFTER pics! (Taken at the same spot...preferably your driveway)

    So demanding...aren't we? lol
