just wondering if installing the 5100s will cause any issues with sensors or abs like having a lift installed in the gen2 Tacoma caused? Asking because i went through all that headache with my gen 2 and really want to avoid dealing with that again. going to put 275/70/17s on 8 in method 305 wheels with 0 offset next week and want to level the truck without issues.

That may have been a specific issue to your 2nd gen but 5100s shouldn't cause any other issues than what these would cause

Thanks guys. Ordered the 5100s today. Found them for $389 and free shipping at Stage 3 Motorsport. Also forgot to say that installing on a 2020 Tacoma TRD off road in earlier post.

I might have missed this (but it is a lot of pages to search) But has anyone compared the new sensor to the old? Figured out why they provide you with a new one? Also is the camera bracket the same as the one on the standard TRD PRO grill or is angled differently to compensate for the lift?

    Camera bracket is the same.

The millimeter wave radar sensor that comes with the TRD lift kit has a different part number than the one originally from your truck. Physically the same though, sitting side by side. No clue what (if anything) is different internally, but it's supposedly made for the 2/1 lift the kit provides.

Is anyone else getting crazy quotes that don't match up with the 4-5 hours that the Toyota hot sheet specifies for this kit?

I've called the 9 closest dealers to my place in SoCal and these are what I've gotten:

Toyota of Hollywood: $1750 for kit, $3500 for labor (14.5 hours, yes this is actually what they said) = $5250
Thousand Oaks: $2616 for kit (outrageous), $1194 for labor = $3810
Bob Smith (La Crescenta): $1750 for kit, $1750 for labor = $3500
    Simi Valley: $1750 for kit, $1650 for labor (8 hours) = $3400
Toyota of North Hollywood: $1750 for kit, will not do install
    Frontier (Valencia): $1750 for kit, $1280 for install (8 hours) = $3056
Keyes (Van Nuys): $2440 for kit only. I didn't bother asking about labor after hearing the kit price.
    Northridge Toyota: $1917 for kit, $1200 for labor (6 hours) = $3117
Hamer (Mission Hills): $1767 for kit, $1935 for labor (9 to 10 hours) = $3702

Has anyone else gotten quotes like this? I really don't understand how no dealership around here can do this in the 4 to 5 hours time that Toyota specifies.

I got two quotes on the lift.
Koons Toyota of Annapolis Md: $1750 for lift and $1371 for labor includes alignment.

Dealer in Delaware: Quoted me $3134 for everything including alignment

They both said 8 1/2 to complete the work.
I want the lift but damn it is only a 2 and 1 inch. Not sure I want it that bad for this much.

What dealership in Delaware quoted you that price?

Was it up north in Wilmington?

In Dover, it's $1750 + labor but not the amount you stated: $1371.

If I remember correctly, it was less that $1K or just over $1K for an 8hr job.

I haven't checked recently but I did ask how many TRD Lifts were done and the answer I got was less than 3.

Their price must have gone up. (Schwartz)

I have not tried Price because they are a Honda Dealership.

I've been very happy with Schwartz's service. I went to the Toyota dealership in Milford for the first ToyotaCare Service and was disappointed.

I'd do the TRD Lift in Dover...that price isn't too outrageous for me...although, I can't speak about the price for others.

If I could get it under $3000 installed, alignment etc. at Dover. I would do it.
Hertrich of Milford, acted like they never did many of the lifts before.

Price has a Toyota dealership in New Castle De. Same company though as Honda one.

Installed this weekend all parts included for under $700. Enjoying the kit so far definitely feels like a slightly more firm ride. Started hearing the vibe from the diff within 20 miles of driving so ordered the ECGS bushing. TSS seems to work perfectly fine with the stock TRD OR grille, no issues with dynamic cruise at least. All parts/prices from the screenshot are from Norm Reeves Toyota San Diego.

The shop I went to (not a Toyota dealer) had just the lift done in about 3 hours. That was for the front assembly and install plus AAL in the rear. After watching them do it, I wish I had just done it myself and saved the cash. It is about as straightforward as you can get.

Anyone have opinions on the TRD lift vs 5100s and an AAL? or something?

I really like the idea of the lift being warrantied all around. (the lift itself and if anything goes wrong because of the lift.) I understand that this isn’t the best lift for the price itself, but the peace of mind is a very big factor. I am also really wanting to keep this truck mostly stock this time (HA! But I do have my ‘99 4Runner to mod out, so that will keep me at bay). So having this installed from the get-go will help the mod itch. I also really like having rake (the back sitting visibly higher than the front). I also really want the TRD grill, so that being included is a positive factor, too.

    Thoughts? Thank you.

Anyone running 255/85 R16 with their TRD OR? If so, do they fit without any rubbing? What wheel size and offset?

Wrong Thread for this question. But… you are new so I’ll help ya out… Yes that size will fit fine with no issues on the factory wheel. Other wheels will and do cause rubbing issues based on the width and offset.

Just got my factory-ish lift finished up. Shocks and struts from the factory kit, then the Headstrong 3-leaf AAL in the back instead of the factory block. A buddy and I installed it all in an afternoon in his driveway, it was super easy and saved me a bunch of money. I'll get some better pics when the weather clears up.

    Specs:
    • Factory TRD lift (just the shocks and struts)
    • Headstrong 3-leaf AAL with their .5" block added as well
    • AGP Pro wheels (17x8 et+5)
    • Nokian Outpost A/T 275/70r17
    Cheers!
