Thats unacceptable, This should be such an easy install. I would be contacting corporate that they quoted you one price and because they are obviously not qualified to replace shocks and struts they kept raising the price because it is taking them longer than it should.

Ive already made the first steps in contacting Toyota Customer Service. As far as I know, they have been working on it since 8 this morning. I figure I’m 11 hrs in by now. No communication from dealer today.

This! When the kit was released Toyota said “4-5 hours”. This is what dealers should be using for the install labor and what my dealer used for the install. I think it took a little longer, but that’s not my problem. I dropped it off at 8:00 and it wasn’t ready until the next day at noon. I don’t think they started the work until the afternoon I dropped it off and then realized it was a little more involved than they originally thought.

A good tech should be able to do it close to the quoted time and not charge extra for their learning curve.

I do think my install was the first for my dealership. I was quoted $2200 for parts and labor. Half way through the install my service rep called and asked if he quoted $4200 because he “couldn’t remember”. That would be roughly $3000 for labor! I reminded him of the original quote and they honored it. Im guessing they may quote the next customer some additional labor.

WOW 3000grand for the install of this?
That is insane. What does toyota charge for a standard shock and strut replacement? Because this isnt much more than that. an Alignment is what $90, Grill install takes almost no time and I am not sure what is the deal with needing a new TSS sensor since the stock one works just fine with the lift.

I was quoted $975 for labor, alignment, and tire balancing. As soon as they saw all the parts and instructions, they doubled that amount. Still no word from them on what’s going on. I told them I expected it to be perfect, and they told me I would likely have problems with the sensors, but since it was Toyota, they felt they could get it right. I was assured it would be finished by 6 Friday. At 4 that day they called to tell me it was taking longer than expected, but would definitely have it ready to pick up this morning. My guess is something has been damaged or they can’t get it calibrate. They have 3 minutes...

If they try to charge more than five hours for labor I would look for a different dealership. If they tried to stick me with the $4200 instead of the quoted $2200 I was going to have them remove it and return it to stock. No way this should cost more than than what Toyota says is a reasonable install time.

Well, they just called and the truck is done except for the new tire which will be here Monday. They double checked everything and the test drive was perfect. Fingers crossed...

I did wind up getting a break in the price. It was 5 hrs labor but they charged an additional amount to install the grille and calibrate sensors, as well as separate amounts to balance the tires and perform an alignment. And they spent some time diagnosing a vibration I had and performed a 30 k service. There a few paint chips on the rims where they unmounted and remounted the tires but I can fix that with touch up paint.

I just picked up from a local dealership here for $1250. I'm going to install myself, does anyone know if you're able to put a jack under the LCA and compress the spring for these? I don't mind doing a spring compressor I'd just have to rent it from the auto parts store. Thanks.

Yep. Sure can. I installed my bilstein 5100s that way a couple times. There are a couple good videos on youtube that show the process.

I was at the dealer getting my 10k service and asked about the kit. They were showing about $1100 or so for parts and $800 for labor (5 hrs book/estimated time @ $160/hr). Not bad I think, even if it ends up going over a bit. Still debating about whether to go for it or not.

Interestingly though, the parts guys said Toyota has the kit on some sort of hold status (can't remember exactly the term he used). He said they usually do that if they find a problem with something in the kit that needs to be replaced or fixed, until they can change things and then start releasing it again. I think there were a couple mentions on here about there was something wrong and that they might do a recall on it? Sounds like that may be true.
