Bilstein recommends factory coils, all you get is 2 inchs of lift on the top setting. My son's is on the 5th and I'm on the 4th. Hard to see much difference but his is maybe a 1/4 taller in the front. Both trucks are set up identical, use your factory coils.

Any front drive bearing issues on your lifts? Have heard about some with a number of other ppl. Clamshell bushing replacements as the fix.

I personally have not had any issues. Upgraded my wheels and tires almost immediately after buying the truck and putting this lift on it.

It's something I'm aware of that CAN happen but have not experienced any issues with the needle bearing.. yet

That's the thing that makes me want to go OEM in case it happens for the warranty coverage. May or may not do it anyway. New Yokohama X-AT 265/75/16 set goes on tomorrow and will see after that. Zero rush.

Its not if its going to happen but when. I did the clamshell bush from ECGS. The dealer is going to put the same crappy one back in there under warranty.

yup. Better off getting some tools, watching YouTube if needed and doing it yourself unless of course $$ doesn’t matter.

My wrenching daze are behind me but I do have a couple of good old boys who are bona fide master mechanics who can do it easily.
It's not something I'm rushing into because at least one place where the truck goes for biz may have some clearance issues in the parking garage. Have to look at that.
I'll know more after the end of October and a weeklong wheeling trip in west Texas.

The front shock has 3 ring settings so there is some adjustment that can be done. Maximum height (3rd ring) is 2”. I would assume first ring is 1” and second is 1.5” but I do not know for sure. It could also be zero lift on first ring and 1” on the second ring

I dun heard on Tacoma world that rear blocks will break while wheeling. I don’t know how Toyota could ever warranty such a part…

If you're serious about it I would shop dealerships. Even if they charged MSRP for the kit, that's over $2k for just install. I got some good discounts and what I paid won't be common for most, but I paid a lot less than that even with $1,000 worth of tires included. Most people I see in this thread were at $2,500 and under with install

Ya I laughed cause 12 tacomas in and 2 with a similar lift (5100s and AAL) I did my self with a buddy in driveway only about half a days work and my advisor was like 13 hours labor, lmao. I like the warranty aspect of it may reach out to a guy I know here who works at another dealer @Empty_Lord see if he has some input. I was gonna buy the new tundra but not digging it so gonna invest in this truck to tide me over.

def a bunch of upcharge, the tech I know started working on mine around 1pm, while working on other jobs at the same time, and my truck was done by 5.

My bro in law just got his installed for $900 exactly. The receipt shows $750 for lift install and $150 for alignment.

    A few.
That doesnt include the cost of the lift package itself. That would b labor cost only, correct?

I am looking at getting this lift. I bought the extended warranty for my truck and my logic is for the extra $$ and peace of mind why not get this lift. If the needle bearing fails its a Toyota problem and not an out of pocket expense.

Sure there are cheaper methods to lift the truck but the second you bring it to the dealer that are going to claim its on your A/M parts and have you chasing tail to get the issue resolved.

^^^^ for the weekend warrior that has 0 interest in working on their truck or worrying about anything really… couldn’t agree with that logic more.

^^^ but only warranted for ONE year if you have the Stealership install it after you have bought the truck. What happens when your needle bearing fails after a year has expired? You get to eat that stellar Stealership labor for the lift installation -AND- pay for the needle bearing replacement (or even a destroyed front diff) yourself.

Install the kit yourself. Not that hard. Save money. Live better.

And purchase/be ready to install the ECGS bearing. Yourself.
