If we're talking about the TRD lift kit it's OEM, not aftermarket. That may make a difference.

Exactly the same thing I did.. and the 6112/5160 dampeners are amazing. No issues with the TSS. Just finished driving 700 miles off-road throughout CO on the COBDR and all routes in the San Juans.

Understood and you are correct, but Toyota treats it as OEM components.

no different than the stock OEM suspension on the TRD off-road truck, made by Bilstein.

Well honey today I'm going to go out and adjust my Bilstein 5100's for the third time this week. Do you realize how lucky you are to have a man that can adjust his front struts in four different locations?

5100s give an 1.55in TRD lift gives 2in if what I read is correct. The few hundred bucks to give me peace of mind that Toyotas not going to battle me at 30k is well worth it.

It's only a 12k mile/ 1year warranty. But wait for the needle bearing. Warranty work, what's going to go on with that, were talking shocks and struts. Oh and Bilsteins gives you a lifetime warranty. Get what you want, your money and your truck!

I cannot confirm, my apologies. This was an assumption that if one were to install all OEM dealer offered parts, said dealer would then be willing to recalibrate the sensor they just sold you…:notsure:

Everyone keeps talking about recalibration. The new kit comes with a new sensor because I was told the sensors cannot be recalibrated. It’s so dumb how much information is told differently by different dealers.

I can confirm, I installed my own lift using the shocks from the OEM TRD lift kit and my original TSS sensor with an aftermarket grill, but OEM sensor cover and I have ZERO issues and I use the auto cruise control on the freeway all the time.

    just my experience

You may want to look beyond the three suspensions you mentioned for your intended use

That's a lot more acceptable than the 8k crap some guys paid. The biggest issue (for U.S. customers, I can't speak for you Canada and Mexico bros) is their 12/12mo and 36k/36mos warranty ONLY if installed by toyota techs. Which is a direct violation of the magnussen moss warranty act. The act specifically states that no manufacturer can require or imply that you use their services for to maintain their warranty and that the warranty is valid as long as you use OEM or "OEM like" parts and the owner did not cause the failure (as in installing incorrectly).

It sounds like toyota wised up to the electronic's manufacturers "warranty void if damaged" B.S. and are doing it in the automotive market, just to take advantage of naïve average joes who don't know warranty laws. It get even worse when you consider that law made a 4yr standard for products to work under "normal use" meaning even a 36k/36mos warranty is below average of expected product life and the 12k/12mo "post purchase" install warranty.

Legal rant aside. I'm around 9k in 6mos on it, will be replacing it with a accutune setup probably after christmas season as I plan to weigh down my truck with armor soon. I would say it's worth the money I got the kit for $950usd out the door with me installing it myself) but not more that $1200.

Also I fully disagree with the "285's" comment. the issue with fitting 285's is wheel spacing and wheel-well dimension. Regardless of if you are running a 1,2,3 or even 6 inch lift, your tires will rub the same at full compression. If just lifting the truck stops the rub, either A. You aren't going to full compression so you haven't fixed the issue, or B. your struts are bottoming out before the bump stop.

Does anyone know what’s the difference between the 2020 package and the 2021 package. The 2021 seems to be available in a package/kit, but the 2020 has to be pieced together. Can the 2021 package be used on a 2020?

I've read through about 50 pages and haven't quite seen the answer.

(Canada) I'm looking at ordering a 2022 Off-road and having this lift kit installed with the build. As a $3,200+tx option, I was wondering if dealers have let people keep the stock suspension/grille/fog lights? Or do they just deliver the truck with the new parts and that's what you get?

Selling some of the brand new stock parts would help offset the cost for sure.

They are yours and came on your truck, plus you purchased some new components. Why would
you not receive "your" parts that came stock that you initially paid for? They are yours.

As for the $3200 cost... highway robbery.. but my opinion. Let me know a year or two after you get it done how you feel about that cost.

I’m in BC and at the end of March I purchased my OEM kit installed, calibrated and aligned at the same time as the truck for $2417 before taxes. I told them I’d like all my stock parts returned and asked that they leave my foglights alone which they did.

Agreed, it's expensive in Canada. As for the stock parts, I just wasn't sure if the dealer installed the kit after they receive the stock truck or if it's installed from factory, therefore no additional parts.
Good to know on that price. $2,400 seems reasonable to be able to keep the warranty and float that into monthly payments.

Did they receive your truck when you ordered it, then install the parts afterwards? That way you could keep the stock parts?

Yep, the truck arrived at the dealership stock and it was installed afterwards. In my case it was a couple weeks later due to the lift kit just being released at the time.

I’m sure some people don’t care what happens to their original parts so just make sure to confirm with them that you’ll be taking them with you.

Thanks, that's good to know that the truck shows up stock and that it's a dealer add-on. That way there's for sure two sets of parts. Sell them and offset the costs a bit.
