All midsize truck sales were down compared to April 2016. In April 2015, 15,556 tacomas were sold. 18,006 were sold in April 2016 and in April 2017 they sold 17,006 units.
    http://www.tfltruck.com/2017/05/midsize-truck-april-2017-sales-report/

Auto sales are down overall period for 2017. Auto sales are reaching a plateau so 2017 isn't going to be a record sales year. People are getting prepared for the next recession and don't want to continue spending thousands on new vehicles anymore.

The Tacoma is still outselling its competition and its competing trucks had worse declines for the month compared to 2016 selling year. I don't care about resale value because I'm keeping this truck till it dies or I die one. Whichever comes first.

    Hmmm...

Chevrolet added in a suspension that’s been widened front and rear by 3.5 inches and lifted by 2, with special off-road dynamic dampers, functional rockers, and unique bumpers.

Yeah, what I've always thought when off roading is "boy I sure wish my truck was wider". WTF?

Ridgeline sales up 318,500% while Tacoma, GMC/Chevy and Nissan down.

Trends show the Ridgeline outselling all of those combined by next year.

A lot of trucks got sold in 2016, don't forget. These same people aren't looking to trade in after only a year.

Raptors are wider. More travel? better stability?

Ah, yeah might be good for the "go fast" crowd and so stability would be important. I'm more used to being limited by narrow spots at reasonable speeds but I'm probably a very different kind of user than those trucks are being marketed to.

I think they see the popularity of the Raptor and of course a lot of it is for that "stance" people are attracted to....Let's be real most guys are going to buy these and just like the Pro they'll mostly see Mall parking lots.

This is the second or third complaint I've read on TW today about lacking power seats. Is it really that big of a deal? I think it's absurd that we can't adjust seat height... but I can move my manual seat around just fine.

Apparently this is something people want. The new Tacomas are less of a rugged truck and more of a 4 wheeling capable yuppie truck.

Which I why I ignore most of the complaints. In my head I imagine a person with soft hands typing and I immediately don't give a single shit about what they say.

This man pulls into the parking spot next to my 4runner. He's driving a year old Colorado crew cab ZR1. White with black trim. Looked decent though I am not a fan of white, unless it's a Ferrari.

Anyway, I asked how he liked it. He said he loved it. This is a guy that put 400k miles on his previous Toyota truck. I asked why he switched makers. He never really answered that, but he said he paid 31k for the Colorado. I guess that was the answer.

Regarding Tacoma sales from April and the "trend", keep in mind they are comparing to the months after launch when sales were pretty damn hot.

A good indicator in my area is that 2017 Tacoma Sports are now lined up on the front row of the dealership near me. Quite a few actually. Inventory isn't moving quite as fast as it was. Up until now they would sell before they landed. Not any more.

    That also means better discounts.

So, selling pressure, plus recalls and bad press, plus coming competition means Toyota can no longer sit on their ass. They MUST respond or it will get worse for them.

Oh, so those of us that made a living writing code are somehow pussies?

The power seats in my 4Runner are nice. If they had black leather power seats in the Tacoma Limited I would be driving one.
