Received an email from Toyota today and this is what they say about the battery warranty. Can anyone definitively define what they are saying?

Free replacement if fails in 2 years and get free towing to nearest dealer. After 2 years it is then pro-rated out to 7 years

It's a prorated warranty. By 84 months you'll get 5% or so back.

Free tow if you're willing to jump thru the multiple hoops and wait god knows how long for one on the side of the road.

The towing service is only a jump start by the way. And yes, as long as you're within 2 years (among other typical warranty stipulations), it's 100% covered. I did an "emergency warranty repair" on my battery at almost 2 years and got a full reimbursement for what I spent on an AGM battery.

Mine went out at 3yrs, and they did full replacement. Didn't bother with tow, just jumped it and took it to dealer. Figured calling for tow would be a pain in ass.

Suggest you consider a SAMs Club 3 year replacement battery. 3 or 4 years on a battery is my expectation in cold winters or hot summers. Not sure of cost of Toyota battery. I think I paid about $120 or so a little over 2 years ago. If I get to 3 years, that’s worth it to me. What do the Toyota batteries sell for?

In stead of another thread, does anyone know how to decipher the date code on the Toyota Truestart battery?

My parents got the Truestart battery warrenty from an Autonation Toyota. Later, went to a Non-Autonation Toyota for un-related service. They told them that the battery tested bad for them. They thought this was odd since they didn't have any issues, but said ok, they have the warrenty. Toyota said, oh it's under warrenty? You have to go to a Autonation Toyota to claim that. So they did. Autonation Toyota told them the Battery Tested good and they can't replace it unless it tests bad. Since they were not having any issues to begin with, they just let it go but they wasted a lot of time. Sounds like the first Toyota dealer was trying to sell a battery when they didn't need it.
