    Rain Visors,

This is dead on, when it comes to 3/4 and 1ton pick ups we don't have a choice. and they are built well. I have had numerous 3/4 and 1 tons. and all ad more then 200K miles. and eventually will go back to a diesel 1 ton.

but their mid size truck line just doesn't work at all.

I was converted back in 1996. I had a brand new GMC Sierra:eek: and a friend of mine bought this thing called a "Tacoma" what the heck is that? We all picked on him quite a bit as we all were American only types. Then we hit the trails, I could not keep up. I drag race on the ramp to the freeway, I could not keep up. Trips to the dealership for warranty, I won! My next truck was a 1997 Tacoma and I have been happy ever sice. I don't care what other people think I am happy and that is the most important thing. Yes, I have an American flag decal on the back window and I am proud of it!

Just because you buy a foreign company's car doesn't mean they don't pay local state and federal taxes. Profit goes back to the parent company, that's how business works. I have an 05 it was build in fremont with parts sourced from around the world. Never owned any American national company cars and don't think i ever will. When the PT cruiser came out with the convertible, they just told there employees to cut off the tops because they didn't make convertible frames. Isn't that just money down the drain?

I don't really get that much shit about it being a Toyota. I more get people asking why I didn't get a "real truck" as in something full size. IMO, I didn't need a fullsize so it's stupid to buy something I don't need.

The buy American people are just idiots, they eliminate alot of good vehicles just because they feel patriotic by buying American. Always fun telling them that by buying their American product they gave a Mexican or Canadian worker a job where in buying my Toyota I gave an American worker a job. That usually shuts them up. Besides, not much competition from the American brands in the midsize segment. The Colorado is garbage in my opinion. I gave it brief consideration when they put the V8 in but still didn't like them. The Ranger is basically 15 years old, and I don't like Dodges. So it was really only between the Taco and Frontier. Had I wanted a full size truck I would have had a much harder descision there are things I like about all of them both import and domestic.

In the end, I don't really care who makes it. If the vehicle fits all my needs and I like then I will buy it regardless of what country the company is from.

I liked my dakota i had, a chevy too, but i got tired of 1/2 fixes on warranty other half i had to pay for. I think all the truck , tacoma too have some problems, but the big 3 have a longer list to be sure.
They do what works.... show big guys , a sunset on a wheatfield... fade in an Amercian flag. The redneck is'nt smart enough to sort patriotic from favorite truck.
JohnyTaco said it right ... about resales, point back to the quality indirectly.
Borderbrat said his landlord drives a vibe... i think he is pointing out that the vibe is a toyota Matrix lol.

yeah, us toyota guys do bust on jeeps but that's only cuz jeeps are unreliable and they break alot. i have several friends who have had a multitude of different jeep models and they've all had major issues with them. now if someone was to running a Jeep Cj with a fuel injected small block chevy that's a whole different story-short wheel base jeeps with a good drive train do a great job and are much more reliable.....and the die hard ford guy that gives me shit at work all the time has good luck with his V8 ford 4x4 trucks -and i've always said that america makes good V8 full size trucks and that's what those companies do best, but he still continues to rag on my toyota trucks even though I've owned 7 of them, all 4x4's and all manual trans (1983 22R carb , 1985 ext cab 22RE ,1991 22RE, 1998 ex cab 2.7L ,2002 ext cab 3.4L , and 2 of the 2005 access cabs both 4.0L) with no issues ever...

I agree, I can haul about 1 ton in the bed of my taco (i have before) I can tow a 6x12 dual axle enclosed trailer fully loaded. But I was completely maxed out both times. Since that is all I ever need a truck to do I'm OK. When you need to pull a gooseneck trailer or put 3 ton in the bed I'd be looking elsewhere. I would also spend a lot of time fixing said huge truck.

I really don't care what anyone else thinks or says since they aren't making the payments. When I'm dropping tens of thousands of I tend not to base my purchasing decision on emotional arguments or considerations. I research the product, I try out different vehicles, I look at the cost/benefit argument and I purchase the vehicle that I like the most after considering all of that stuff.

I bought a Tacoma because I thought it was the best mid sized pickup on the market, period. Had I wanted another full size, I'd be driving an F-150.

This sort of reminds me of when I had my Honda Fit. I pulled into a parking lot and the redneck in his 1 ton Dodge daily driver remarks "Nice baby car, I could fit that thing in my box". My response was "Well you could try if you want but I can see from looking at it that you are scared to scratch your box so you better not". He shut up right away and even his wife laughed at him. Now THAT'S priceless :D

Yea there are alot of people around here that give me heck for driving a japanese truck too but i try to tell them about how reliable they are but its a losing battle.

My dads friend bought a '96 tacoma to haul his 4wheeler but it was a 2.7(not enough power) so he sold it to my brother and he got a 2000 v6 tacoma, then decided he liked the new tacomas and bought a 2007 White V6. And then thats when i decided i wanted a tacoma and so did my best friend after my brother bought his. So my friend bought a 2003 2.7 4x4. and about a year later i bought my truck.

and now my dad is thinking about buying one because he has a 03 ford f350 and it has become so unreliable. It broke down on me today.:(

only person who gave me shit so far was my friend who Chose to drive a 92 2door tahoe with an old lift, frame rusting, loose brush guard, all headlights held in place by the wires, a blown up chevy engine replaced by a ford superduty (i dont believe it) and a interior full of crap, and rusted piping from flowmasters. he made fun of my V6 and how its not a 4x4 and etc, well now he cant make fun of my truck because his piece of shit got stolen right after he dropped 4 grand in subs amps and headunit
