Lol imagine that, just the service writer with her personal iPhone.

She said they just have the equipment from Toyota until tomorrow afternoon, thus the urgency.

    Definitely sounds fishy.

I should go in with a GoPro body mount and a separate camera on a gimble like I'm an influencer lol.

    where my mind goes:

if it's so urgent, why does it seem you are having issues finding volunteers? Are they too not being given enough info, compensation, or are too skeptical?

    Its a feature, not a bug. :cookiemonster::cookiemonster:

A former car salesman once told me that the best tool the sales floor has is time. They have all day to make you tired enough to agree to their terms. They also have all day to land the impulse buyer that wasn't originally there to shop. Its easy to counter once you see it, but they are definitely in cahoots with the service bay - and absolutely love those 2-3 year old vehicles that show up there. Watch out for your last free service visit, that's when the sales manager sidles over with a coffee and donut and says "say, you're the one with the two year old Tacoma, right? Man, thats a sweet truck. Hey, have you seen the color of the one over there? Come check this out."

Did you not read the OP? Toyota has special equipment there now, not next week.

Now, let's piss off all the people who want to ask why technical people do something with their product:
upload_2023-11-2_12-37-53.png lol. There have been literally 15 guesses and not a one has any basis of truth or fact. Do you guys get paid to guess at your jobs?

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I wonder just what special equipment is going from dealer to dealer.

Why this was not planned out better and not so much you need to get it in now??

    Interesting!

I advise the OP to do what he/she wants, but DO NOT report back to us. Make all of the over-interested intruders just deal-with-it. :D

My dealer is nice because they have a sales building, then a service building. They are not on the same street so it takes some time for a sales person to walk over.

Mine are in the same building but I've literally never been approached by a sales person while waiting for a service in my entire life. Not Toyota, Volvo, BMW, Porsche.

Who are these sales folks just cold approaching people in the service waiting area?

I worked for VW for a number of years. Sales shared the same waiting room as service, so they would sometimes hang out in the drive isle looking for older cars they know will have a big bill.

Makes sense, guess I've never had a car old enough ;)

Though that $800 40,000 mile Volvo service had me reconsidering :angrygirl:

I get paid to scan things. And if I want to come up with a new test for the customer, I can convert it to non-science speak and tell them why I want to burn lab time scanning for that new thing. So if i got called to take time out of my day and couldn't be told why, yeah that's not good enough for me.

Are you suggesting that someone invented a whole new reason just to get you, old special you, specifically into their waiting room over all the other Toyota customers in their region?

I wish I had that confidence! :hattip:

Yep, we would get people for the 40k with the DSG service. It was so expensive many people would just trade in then.
