 glad it worked out. We obviously live in different areas.
I get a referral from the doctor, and all they can say is. Well it's only 9 miles....o_O 9 miles each way in Los Angeles can take up to 4 hours. That's not including the doctor appointment, where you can sit there for up to 2 hours before being seen.
    It's takes all damn day:annoyed:

Yeah I have to admit that I didn't understand it either until I road tripped there. First we were camped in Malibu and my friend said, " no, you need to come inland. I know a spot." Cool.

So we find a cute RV park in Van Nuys. We go to breakfast with my buddy, he takes us to Porto's in Burbank. The RV park calls me and says my dog is barking. "shit sorry," I say, "I'm just one neighborhood over in Burbank. I'll be there in ten."

They laughed. "no, you won't. We'll see you in an hour." They were right. No matter where we went, it took forever to get there.

... Still worth the experience though. That's the only campsite I've been to where they unhitched and valet parked my trailer while I was checking in. And not just moved it into it's spot, they leveled and lowered the stabilizers, and then did all the hookups. I never would have guessed that RV valet was a thing. If this crap doesn't scream LA, I don't know what does.

^^^^ My marina will do that to help launch boats. It definitely speeds up the process on a busy spring day when everyone is trying to get their boat in the water.

That's exactly what they used to check the frame of my 1st Gen. Taco. If the hammer goes through, you get a new frame. I got a new frame (7 year old truck).

    WHAT are they looking for?

I just noticed, you got a 2020 DCSB OR. I got same year, now I'm really curious what the actual heck they're looking for, and found. Jeesh.

Good recording, thanks for posting. Looks like they want to see how the frame is holding up.

It’s pathetic that they’re looking at a three year old truck to evaluate frame rust.
If they issue a frame recall I’m selling this turd.

My frame was never "scanned"; I have a 2010 and the frame recall was first reissued in 2017. I brought my truck in, they found no perforation, and my frame was coated in rhino snot. In September August or September 2021, I brought my truck in for the annual emissions test and safety inspection (I live in PA) and it passed both, but my mechanic found a "trouble area" on the left frame rail.

My truck was purchased new at Peruzzi Toyota in Hatfield, PA. However, Thompson Toyota in Doylestown, PA is much closer and provides much better service in my opinion; Thompson happens to be within walking distance of my mechanic, so I brought it there. They did not find perforation, but the service manager told me to bring the truck back a week before the grace period ended (truck was purchased new on September 30th, 2009 and period is 12 years); I brought it back to Thompson a week before the period would have been up and, sure enough, they found a quarter-sized hole rotted in the frame rail next to the catalytic converter!

I have no idea how my mechanic and I missed, because it was a result of just pushing a rotted section of the frame. My truck had already passed inspection, it was deemed safe to drive, and there was a shortage of rental vehicles at the time, so I was allowed to keep driving my truck. The perforation was discovered in September 2021 and my truck went in for the frame replacement like a week before Thanksgiving. The job was done in less than a week and I got my truck back before Turkey Day!

That said, why after more than 50 years of building trucks and nearly 30 years of building Tacomas, can Toyota not get frames right?!?!

I would venture to guess that 2012-2015 2nd Gens and a good chunk of the 3rd Gens will be eligible for frame replacement soon!

Not always. Had Toyota contact me to see if they could use my 2014 FJC to do emission testing to satisfy CARB in 2016 I believe. $200, tank of gas, take it to a emission center in Ann Arbor I believe and run it on a ''rolling road'' tester. I think it was around 100 or so miles of testing.

I declined of course, I'd do nothing ever to help or give info to CARB in any way.

I would be leery because they had my ex's brother bring in his 1st gen years ago when they first started to check frames. He brought his truck in to the local dealer they checked it found no issues and sent him on his way. FF a couple years and he calls me and said that he hit a pothole and his truck was driving like an accordion he took it to a different dealer since was closer and was told that his truck no longer qualified for the frame recall because it had been cleared previously!! since he was an impatient guy he took the first deal they had after I told him to call toyota corporate before he made a move but oh well. So about 3yrs later I leased my first taco a 2017 trd or drove it off the lot with 11 miles on it. I think I was just getting to the last free service and the dealer asked if they could check the frame and said that it was free of charge, why would you check a 2yr old frame that has no visible rusting? More then likely whom ever bought that truck when I traded up is gonna be stuck if the frame ever cracks.

Toyota called to scan my frame as well. Paid me $100. Seemed weird to me because I don't know why they'd need it. They gave me a copy. Feel free to use it if you want. Toyota paid for it.
