Toyota Warranty

I’m an asshole sometimes, but even I have to ask, why do you give two shits whether or not some stranger has the warranty on his SC that he says he has?

Because he's spreading misinformation about performance add-ons. If someone were to wander into the thread they might be inclined to think "oh well this guy implied that his entire truck is warrantied for a year after installing the supercharger.. I'm gonna go ahead and do that." So yeah, that's on them for believing it, but if we're going to have a forum where people can learn the truth, I'm gonna fight against misinformation.

I have read the warranty information from magnuson, and I posted a link to it. It does NOT cover anything on the vehicle itself.

If @medicfung has an actual warranty stating otherwise, I'd love to see it. First, I'll eat my words. Second, I'll apologize for being wrong. Third, it would benefit the entire forum to know there's a place you can get an aftermarket supercharger installed and not lose your Toyota powertrain. Everybody wins, right?

 

I'm not the one spreading misinformation. I emailed your guy and haven't heard back. I'd LOVE to install a supercharger on my '23 Tacoma and not lose my warranty.

 

I told you what shop to go to, the cost, and who to speak to, its up to you to do the rest of the work if you don’t believe me

I don’t know anything about SC’s, hence why I had no comment about the pros or cons lol, but that looks sweet!

meanwhile… im just over here still debating a tune to get overall better shift mapping. It’s a sad day for us AT’s bois

 

I highly doubt the engineers responsible for progaming the ecu or tcu haven't placed some form of flag, flash counter, or even date/time capture capability into the control unit that is updated during flashing a tune or flashing back to stock. There is a way to do forensics and deny coverage even if you tried to put something back to "stock" if they want to.

With the telemetry transmitted to Toyota via the DCIM today, we should probably assume operation outside the design envelope is already transmitted and recorded. No need to visit any dealership for certain diagnostics to be performed on data from your ride. Don't you think they'd know about elevated compression ratios or fuel/air ratios outside spec and off the standard maps created by the OEM?

Also having once been married to a lawyer, what rules is what is written. Verbals are nothing, nada, zilch.

 

A total stretch, nobody denies a supercharged Tacoma would be fun; the the fact remains, such a modification will accelerate the wear on the engine and drive train (transmission included). Would I like a supercharged or turbocharged V6 Tacoma? Yes, and if one was designed and built by the factory, I would probably have put my deposit on such a build; but as an aftermarket unit, even though I can pay for the extra repairs a supercharged engine would require, I choose not to. How does that qualify me as a hater?

 

What is warranted and for how long? I rather doubt your supercharger warranty will pay to fix a blown transmission, regardless of how few miles are on it.

 

I went to the dealer to have mine installed, i didnt tell them I already had the OVtune flashed on to the ECU. They never found out and flashed my truck to the magnuson tune and it wasn’t an issue. Supposedly you need to hae the stock tune in before you flash to the Magnuson tune but they didnt know and it hasn’t caused any problems. Ive got 10k on it so far, 75k total on the truck.

Why does everyone with a problem scream lawyer? So many reasons this is wrong. Lawyers cost money, a lot. Good luck finding one. All a lawyer will do is send a letter. If it has any traction you get to wait months for years for resolution.

Who puts a supercharger in their truck and then says I never floor it? I bought my wife bigger boobs but never sleep with her.

Buy a used tranny, put it in yourself and save money. You have no chance of winning a warranty claim if someone else takes apart the tranny. Toyota can say you switched parts, the tech was the cause, etc.

You do realize the first and second gen SC was not designed by toyota? How is this any different, its the same company lol

You apparently dont know much about these superchargers. It shows in your opinion about installing one on a stock truck.
