I have taken my(at the time) stock 2wd through race courses and not broken anything. Now i'm full mid travel, and bash the truck even harder, and it still works beautifully. Quit destroying the trucks we love and can take care of.

 

You should get a chevy and see if you destroy it or it self destructs first.

 

2 weeks ago I talked to a guy with a new 1000cc Yamaha side-by-side, he said new ones are cheaper because people are asking ridiculous prices for used ones. This is extremely stupid and silly, but it actually makes sense if dealers can't hold onto any inventory (meaning the only models for sale are used). So the Tacoma is not alone with used prices being crazy high.

Also, anything that is beaten and used hard will lose value more quickly, this is not exclusive to Tacoma. I argue that Tacomas are *relatively* bulletproof compared to other similar products. So despite the abuse, I suspect you have received very good service from your Tacomas, rather than if you had purchased another brand and treated them in the exact same manner as you treated your Tacomas (assuming 100% stock equipment of course). So maybe in the end, it was worth paying more? Maybe you would have paid a lot more in repairs if you'd not bought a Tacoma? Just a thought.

i didn't read most of this after you said they don't make manual trans anymore. I have a 2013 Manual Tacoma, and alot of dealers may not have them on the lot but its still a factory option should someone want one... i usually don't jump in on arguments and sit back and watch but you my friend have a very flawed and opinionated mindset, so i don't know why you even posted this to begin with.

Valid points. Having no comparisons to other trucks I wouldn't know at this point. I think there should actually be some independent testing of truck components that follow a standard process; like a scientific method for evaluating suspensions, engine durability, transmission breakage strain...

all of it in Kilonewtons or whatever and available in tables to read...

 

1. The backup camera on a DCLB with a tinted rear window and cap with two more layers of glass (one of those tinted) is extremely helpful in tight quarters, on or off road.
2. Lets me hook up my trailer with ease solo.

ask a local dealer, they seldom even carry manuals on their floors now. This _IS_ a reflection of who they cater to. It has changed in 20 years and the change may not be good.
