I am in car design with focus on interiors now. It's just cost down and carrying over, re-using, whatever you want to call it. It's easier for us to build the data for the switch panel to accommodate existing parts and switches rather than redesign a switch cover/ faceplate if it already exists while using the same switch guts.
Sometimes switch parts are sourced through two or three vendors and that cost adds up when you can just have one vendor pop out a switch panel. Screw bosses, gussets, mounting tabs, and all that BS affects placement and orientation of stuff like that. We fight with engineers all the time about the stupid shit they require us to use because of feedback like this. LOL

    Sorry about your OCD....

Double cabs do, don't need for AC, just reach back and open, I did for years and my arm still works, just can't reach on a double cab.

Yea, I know, I'm just bitching because the access cabs got the short end of the stick from Toyota. No power rear window, no cargo lights. Besides, I'm getting old and fat so it's not as easy to reach back like when I was younger! Thank goodness for air conditioning!

    It's neither. It's Air Compressor.

On my 2nd gen, it's for the 120 volt outlet in the bed, setting for the wattage available to run power accessories like a drill or other tools. One setting for the engine running, the other with it off.

So, this photo was posted in the 2018 thread, but it appears the 2018 model fixes this issue? Well, there still is the sideways bedlight switch.
...or are those buttons the same size? It's hard to tell really.

I’ve done that, glad it has speed protection otherwise it would have slammed into 4hi at 80.

Definitely looks like "auto" under the light symbol so looks like auto high beams. Wonder where they moved the power rear window switch to.

Do all models come with automatic lights and/or back window motor? I dont have automatic lights or the sensor on the right side of the dash (2017 TRD sport)
