    Just to emphasize this.

Most commercial aircraft have gone to LED for the position lights, logo lights, anti-collision beacons, all interior lights, etc. because the cost of constant bulb replacements is enormous! LED last quite a bit longer.
But they learned that they cannot replace the landing lights with LED. Landing lights are forward facing (duh!) and any weather being flown into packs-up on them. The wings have the same problem, but the engine cowls, wings, & empennage have anti-ice hot air pumped through their leading edges to get prevent any snow or ice from building up.
The tungsten filament landing lights generated enough heat to clear any obscuring snow/ice build up. The LED lights do not. The LED landing lights would go "black-out" when you needed them most = in inclimate weather conditions. The airlines have to keep the hot, short life landing light bulbs for now.

It’s funny because everyone says that like it’s only a technicality and never happens. Well, it definitely happened and it was a big deal; I almost left that ordeal with a felony. Thousands in fines, thousands more to an attorney (had to sell my car to pay for everything), 200 hours community service, and 2 years probation. That cop wanted to DESTROY me..that, or he was criminally ignorant of what he was charging me with. My record was spotless other than a simple speeding ticket or two, no criminal history or anything else.

The best part of it all though..in the police report where they were trying to slander me as hard as they could, it was noted that they clocked me at “speeds up to 10 MPH.”
