My 20 year old Dakota had a drivers side grab handle and it was so nice. It is a shame Toyota is too cheap to include one for the most used occupant of the truck.

I've watched the crash test videos very carefully. A single bolt cover with no handle breaks free along its center line. A double bolt cover bridged together by a plastic and steel handle does not break break from the center line.

Can you assure everyone that the airbag will deploy exactly the same in the same amount of time and into the proper place with these 2 very different structures which it sits behind?

If you look at the crash test videos closely you'll see that the driver side cover breaks free from rest up to and including the center line and flexing around the single bolt. With the grab handle the center line is now secured with 2 bolts and bridged together by a handle with a steel core. The center line is fixed stationary with the grab handle mod and will remain fixed during airbag deployment. That's a significant change.

If you studied these photos carefully as you suggested then you would realize that it isn’t as concerning as you suggest. I will reupload though so you can look again. You can literally see side view mirror through the triangular gap between the edge of the airbag and the A-pillar. That last trailing edge of bag ends over the OEM A-pillar bolt. Adding a second bolt further down the pillar isn’t going to change anything. However I can act like Toyota and tell you I am not liable as a cya.

Please show me the photos you are finding and highlight the area you are concerned about. I see no photo indicating the A-pillar is breaking away from midline as you suggest. The pillar trim is soft enough to simply bow/bend/warp out of the way of the airbag.

He’s been doing this since he made his other thread. I posted the same photos and screen caps there.

Instead of picking what could be a valid concern with the plastic compositions, he somehow decided deployment out of the a-pillar was the hill to die on.

That is true. That would be their expected response and I put that in my original post. Their response also absolves them of any liability of their airbag malfunctioning during a crash and causing injury to the driver. So persons using that mod should be aware that they are negating Toyota's liability for injuries due to an airbag malfunction.

No one is dying. It's a discussion. You haven't posted anything of merit.

If you feel so strongly then that makes the both of us. I’ve seen nothing but a guessing game posted by you time and time again. Either here or elsewhere. Just come out and form a lawsuit against ktjo if you feel so strongly about this situation, which you must be to waste such time contacting Toyota.

2nd round test results just in using the CTD (that's a Crash Test Dummy). Not happy with the results. I'm immediately penning a letter to Toyota Corporate demanding a recall of all trucks with a grab handle regardless of driver or passenger side. This aggression will not stand!
