    Hello,

    I have a 2014 double cab taco 4x4

I have done my research but get mixed answers. Can I get some more opinions on this question. I can't begin to tell you how much I have tried to research so give me a little slack.

    I bought the Toytec 3" lift 885 w/ 2" AAL.

    1) Will this work with my stock shocks, front and rear?

    - I have heard yes and no. Will they work well enough for say 15k miles until I can afford new shocks?

    2) Do I need new UCA's?

    - I have heard yes and no. Again will it work well enough without damaging anything

    3) Is there anything else I need to know

This is a new truck so my thought process is the shocks should be ok for some time. Any opinions would be appreciated. I have someone helping me but would like more opinions.
    Thanks,

O I will be offroading. Nothing major, but is my main commute truck.

Do it right and get new shocks. You will enjoy the ride much better and not prematurely destroy your stock shocks. You will know if UCA's are needed after the post lift alignment but more than likely.

You will almost defintely new UCAs. It will drive very poorly without them because you'll never get the caster adjustment that you need. At 2.5" of lift I couldn't get the correct adjustment.

Definitely upgrade your shocks. Since you're already running 885 coils, OME shocks is the way to go.

I'm running OME sans aftermarket UCAs and everything aligned perfectly.

Get new shocks. The coils were designed to work with a higher rated shock and will likely not pair well with the factory shocks. Simarly, with 2 inches of rear lift you'll need shocks with extra travel or you will risk destroying your shocks.

DirtyDeedsIndustries long travel, King coil overs with King bypass up front. 3X16 triple bypass kings out back to dampen the Deaver SUA pack. Long tube headers with full race exhaust system. Too much to list.
agreed, you'll want the new shocks and uppers. The uppers will move the upper ball joint back a little in the truck (from where they are stock) This is corrects every other angle in the alignment and will often make a post lift alignment as simple as just a toe adjustment and all other specs just fall into place.

the extra positive caster will actually make your lifted truck drive better than it did before the lift.

My caster is at .9*, on both sides, truck drives very well, steering wheel never jerks, and always returns to center. city/highway/offroad, never had a problem. Maybe I'm lucky not having to replace my UCA's tho.

Spend they money on the shocks and control arms. Mine rides close to stock and the alignment is spot on.

    One more quick question...well two?

What UCA are you guys recommending?

Will the OME lift kit with AAL be ok?

Again, you probably won't need UCA's. If I have to, I'll dig up my alignment specs to prove it. When I was debating whether or not I needed them, I was going to get the Light Racing UCA's.

And yes, you'll love the OME kit. It'll be fine for what you do.

Light Racing a lot of people run and are very well built and least expensive. All the other ones are great as well more folks will chime in.

Ok thanks for the input. So how will I know? I would hate to tear everything apart align and then have to tear everything back again if it's needed. Any pointers?

Sorry I'm an idiot just read that you are gonna look for your specs

Unfortunately, there's no real way to know whether or not you'll need it until it's aligned and ride tested.

I'm fortunate enough to access to free labor/alignments, so it was an easy gamble for me to take. The shop was able to align without any trouble. I'll have to dig up the paperwork, but if you really want me to, I can.

after my 2.5 lift, I definitely needed the uca's. it was wandering, and was worse on the highway. I went with total chaos uca's. I don't get how some people don't need the uca's after they do a lift.

This is total postulation, but there might be something different about the OEM UCA's on the 2013/2014 Sports.

Every vehicle will be different as well as even alignment shops. I'm running a ToyTec CO's set at 2.5" and truck handles/drives perfect with stock UCA's. I've always had luck with a local NTB, where a few Techs there have lifted vehicles.

So let me ask you guys this then...I throw on my OME lift kit and get it aligned?

If it comes in saying I would benefit from the UCA's get them and instal them within a weeks time frame and if everything is ok just use the stock UCA's?

How mechanically inclined do I need to be for the lift and the UCA's? Done work on cars but not on suspensions. Seems like I can do it but for some reason keep doubting myself and deff don't want someone else to do it.
