ToyTec Boss 2.5

I've been looking around for a few weeks and today went into my local 4x4 shop to talk about options for upgrading my taco.
2022 TRD OF w/ TRD Pro suspension
I'm loaded up pretty good with a Smartcap, bumpers, skids, rails, racks and all the gear needed for my adventures. I don't rock crawl but I do explore some nasty rocky trails.

Local shop recommended Toytec boss 2.5 full package for my needs but I can't seem to find much on them. He says they have done hundreds of tacos (FB page shows it) with them and have never had an issue but I can't help but think theres a reason I don't see any builds with them or atleast very few. Am I missing something or missing out?
I'm sure they are good but are they smooth, I don't want to spend $4k on an upgrade and they are stiff or can't handle rough trails.

 

Have you searched the forum? Toytec is all over this place.

 

If I were in your position I would just opt for King. One stop shop. Wouldn’t even have to look at em twice.

The vendor thread is full of old posts, Not finding much newer with answers. Maybe that is the answer..

 

Which are superior in every way compared to Toytec brand suspension.

 

Never had any but the locals I've talked with say that they don't hold up in the cold temps and they need rebuilt every few years. To me thats not superior or something thats worth the price tag.

 

Everything will need to be rebuilt or replaced. There isnt a one shock replacement for life.

If you're worried about cost, get a Bilstein lift.

If you're interested in rebuild ability, get one of the top 4.

 

I'm confused on why I'm getting info on brands I'm not asking about. I know shocks get rebuilt, if you read my post you would see I have the TRD pro bilstein rebranded fox suspension now and am upgrading for added weight. Not asking for recommendations, looking for thoughts on Toytec 2.5

 

With such a bold claim, I surely imagine you have evidence to back it up.

I was highly encouraged not to buy them from my good friend who has been professionally working on and modding Toyotas in the front range of Colorado for 12+ years when I was researching my suspension.

TY! I don't know why when I used the search function the thread never came up. At this point I don't think the shop or the suspension is what I'm looking for.

 

So, anecdotes? Does you friend also have a similar opinion about Elka shocks? Given that Toytec are just rebranded Elka?
